You'd be surprised how nice a new door, trim, and handle look! Especially if the current set is painted 20x over. Shouldn't add too much to your budget.

Great read, thank you for this great article. You are right, people sometimes forget that they are not renovating their homes for a future buyer. Some other advice is to be aware of budget, make sure to always add 20% to your budget. Believe me, you’re going to need it. Luckily nowadays there exists some free online tool to help you determine your budget. I found this to be a good one: https://mykukun.com/bathroom-remodel-cost which estimates the bathroom remodel cost in your zip code. Pretty helpful.

We had our bathroom redone this winter. Yes, a sledgehammer will break up a cast iron tub. It shook the whole house, but they got it out in pieces. We put in a shower with a seat and grab bars, and I'm so glad we did, because my husband is now recovering from brain surgery and blesses our forethought every day.
