Kathleen MK_ your husband is exactly correct! (when clients have unrealistic expectations or change their minds during the construction phase when they ignored professional advice during the design phase. There is a big difference between value engineering that cuts initial cost but causes costly issues later or those that are just cosmetic.) It's very frustrating when the project keeps getting changed due to their "new" wishes but their expectation is that the price did not "change" even though labor hours, materials etc. all changed.
