Not silly at all. He is paid to oversee. Not every minute, but that response was very disrespectful. Did you check references? He is either so good and feared he doesn’t need to check on his subs, or he simply refuses because he has been around.

caml12345 Being a contractor and interior designer I agree with JK. This contractor must be overextending himself and his reply was rude and unprofessional.

Part of our 'job' is to make our clients feel that their project is being overseen in a professional manner. That is established by educating the client to who will be onsight and who to address concerns. Most of this should have been explained BEFORE the project even began and you should have received an outline as to timeline and subcontractors.

Just like any remodeling wether, it is kitchen remodeling, multiple room renovation or as I will mention here - a bathroom remodeling; $10-12k for a standard small bathroom renovation is realistic if you have some of the material and choose standard fixtures. However, a consumer should be aware that if it's a medium-large bathroom and you choose more custom or hi-end fixtures and you really want a trusted contractor doing the work, it will cost you $20k plus depending on a lot of different factors. So while seeing the average cost on Houzz, you have to realize that a lot of different calculation play in and the final price will probably be higher than what it is stated on here.

As long as the consumer is realistic, then there are no surprises. And in most cases, the customer is left very pleased and loves the new renovation.

Good luck!
