Transitional style is most masculine and very grown up. I love the mid-century look, as well.

amazing how two items, lights and stools, inexpensive touches ( comparatively speaking) can transform a well loved, much used space. Really liked that pointed out as many of us may not be able to afford the full kitchen remodel...I had the 4 inch back splash (black) removed from mine as the countertop was black and it just made the kitchen look smaller. Amazing how it opened up the space to have the countertop flush with a wall. So many possibilities now...but it will be all backsplash or nothing... This site so motivational! More comparisons and mini makeovers like this pls. I live in SFLA near the ocean and this house was pricey for the size so I get creative...Also since I hired a "capenterISH" person to move my matching island back where it should have been placed, my island needed some love below the top so I am using white wall paper with black writing printed with inspirational quotes...it is painstaking matching the words up but it looks great! Again, do not be limited by budget..."necessity is the mother of invention is truly the case"!!
