1920 Colonial Kitchen Traditional Kitchen, Portland

This kitchen was designed with family in mind. With prep, clean-up, cooking, and baking zones, this functional layout allows for multiple family members to pitch in without getting under foot. Stunning custom tiles spice up the white back splash and the Blue Star range adds a pop of color.

Thank you. A nice detail. It is applied or made as part of the door?

Yes, the clients like that everything is handy next to the range without taking up drawer or counter space.

Takes too much time to hang stuff back up. I wish I had made mine an additional spice rack.

What's the best way to choose grout color? - For a kitchen floor, using white tiles with light grey tinted design (linen look). white cabinets. granite counters. Modern style

Thanks for the question! You can go either way. Dark grout will hide more dirt in the kitchen but it will offer a more dramatic/modern look while white, or a lighter grout will show more dirt and stain easier but may look less dramatic and offer a classic style. You can always go the route of something in between, tan, beige, light brown and grey. Have fun with your grout!

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Scheer & Co. Interior Design added this to Kitchen Storage Solutions Hide and Keep
Creating a pullout cooking utensil station for spoons, spatulas and oven mitts is an ingenious use of the rollout storage idea. A pegboard or perforated metal backing creates an easy (and affordable) backdrop for stress-free reachability.Pullout drawers like this are also great for trash and recycling storage. Out of sight, out of mind (and smell).
Affecting Spaces added this to Kitchen Confidential: Amp Up Your Storage With Pullouts
1. Utensil storage. How often have you spent too much time searching for your cooking utensils in a drawer that’s just a big pile of junk? By hanging them next to your stove, it’s impossible to overlook your favorite spatula.
Kate Burt added this to 99 Ingenious Ideas to Steal for Your Small Kitchen
96. Slide and hang utensils. Keep utensils off your countertop by storing them next to your oven instead. A slide-out rack like this is also the perfect place to stash bulky oven gloves for easy access.
