White TRIM: What it the bright white trim color please? I ask because the trim looks like a different white than the ceiling (P&L Seed Pearl).

  • doug7526

The trim is the same color, just in a different sheen from the ceiling. The color reflects differently on different planes, so it regularly looks differently on the ceiling than it may on the walls.

How do you keep the knots in the wood on the ceiling from bleeding through?

Good question! All of the ceiling T&G material is Poplar, so the knots are minimal and don't bleed like other lumbers. The truss lumber is however Doug Fir and the knots are prone to bleeding. Typically a primer like Cover Stain will mitigate the majority of the issue.

The fireplace is actually a masonry unit built on site so it has a brick firebox with a gas log lighter to get the firewood burning a bit easier...

Walls 10' peak of ridge about 13'

Check out how the window sizes help out this mere 13' ceiling. Amazing.

Absolutely beautiful room. So open, and bright but soft, not too stark. You did a great job.

  • kilkennyc

Yes, this would work well especially as if the last truss is a distance off the wall.
  • kchampeau
Thank you for your help . . . we are placing the braces at 45 degree angles about 4 ft. in from walls so view through lakeside windows is not obstructed.

Thanks for noticing- all of the ceiling registers were provided by Pacific Register Company https://www.pacificregisterco.com/ They are a great company with a good website to browse and order from. Good luck!

Semi Gloss paint finishes tend to be widely used when painting wood sub-straits like ceilings, casing, base, paneling, crown etc. A Medium to brighter based sheen (like Semi-Gloss) draws attention to your eye, without being too reflective in the light. The more sheen within a paint, the more visible differences in wood characteristics (from board to board) will show up after finishing.

Sorry I'm unsure. It was purchased and installed by our client after we completed the project.
