Floor material? - Great little kitchen! I especially like how the flooring pattern visually enlarges the space. Is it tile or wood or?

would love the name of the tile. It almost looks as if a rectangular tile was cut in half to create the pattern

Why not just fire up your word processor, get yourself a font you like and just print it on some medium stock paper? Then just frame them up...

AFTER: A coat of chalkboard paint turned the nook into a design feature, and several rows of Ikea shelves make full use of the space. "It's such a tiny kitchen, so this made a huge difference," says Sabbe. Backsplash: Hex, Home Depot

4. Wall-mounted storage. Have a slender bit of blank wall? Don’t just hang up a calendar or artwork — make the most of the available space by mounting rows of racks on the wall from floor to ceiling. Drape towels over a bar, use S-hooks to hang kitchen tools and install a magnetic knife rack.

“Don’t just hang up a calendar or artwork — make the most of the available space by mounting rows of racks on the wall from floor to ceiling.” — Laura GaskillIf there’s one room where most of us would give up a pinkie toe for more space, it’s the kitchen. This ideabook is full of great ideas for making the most of every single inch. Full story: 10 Big Space-Saving Ideas for Small KitchensWriter Laura Gaskill has done us the same favor with bathrooms. Bonnie McCarthy added this to Counter Intuitive: Magnetic Racks
Knife racks, magnetized planks of metal or wood, are the design god’s gift to countertops. Offered in a variety of styles and lengths, mounted racks eliminate the need for bulky storage blocks and free up precious square inches of space.
