Chris Luthi, Architect.

We were referred to Chris by a friend/contractor that had worked with him in the past. The scope of the project was a gable dormer expansion of our existing master suite that added square footage and removed the old sloped ceiling that limited mobility in the existing space. This created a new bedroom area, a walk-in his/hers closet, and the enlargement of an existing den/office area that enabled a home theater 'zone'. The end result was well beyond expectation and Chris' design maximized the Olympic mountains, sound, and sunset views. We were shocked at how light and airy the space is now. He also really figured out the structural components, utilizing existing support points and foundational elements that prevented us from tearing open walls, or doing any of the punitive shear wall adds to meet code. This saved us thousands. Chris was always pleasnat, professional, and timely and worked well when called in by the end contractor to clarify some structural requirements. All in all a fabulous project that ended way beyond our expectations and visualizatuions. I would recommend Chris to anyone. to

I have been trying to build my final small house for many years. Finally, I found someone who was on the same page as me. Chris. The plan I found online was close to what I wanted but not completely. Chris and I chatted and he took the design and turned it into my final house plan. I love it. And, even more, I appreciated Chris following through on all of the permit and county issues. There were several requests from the county and Chris took care of each and everyone. We are scheduled to break ground in a week. Chris was my aspirin with my county headaches. Thank you, Chris. As a Certified Landscape Designer, I have the challenge and opportunity to work with some of the best architects around. I had the pleasure of working with Chris on the Ranch 2.0 house and the process was wonderful! Chris is very approachable, committed to a serious design aesthetic and very in-tune with the client's needs, wishes and desires. Working with him on the landscape design allowed for a seamless transition between architecture and landscape that would not have been possible without his ability to coordinate efforts and abilities with such skill and grace. I would highly recommend Chris for any new or remodel architectural project you may be looking forward to.

As a contractor, Chris was great to work with. The plans were clear and accurate and best of all was his ability to work with design changes and come up with a good solution with the owners and builder. His unique knowledge of Timber Framing was much better than any other architect I have worked with. Chris was also very good at using recycled building materials in a unique way in the house design. I would work with Chris on any building project!

We worked with Chris Luthi to develop the plans for a second home, to be built in two stages. This presented some unique challenges, as the first stage needed to serve as a cottage, and then be transformed into garages / shop in the future when the main home is built in the second stage. We had a basic floorplan and ideas, which Chris refined and made multiple improvements upon. We built the cottage in 2012 (we hope to build the main house in the next 5 years). Everything has turned out well. Chris was enjoyable to work with and very responsive when a change in floorplan was made late in the game. A true test of the design came in a windstorm in March, 2013. A huge, healthy 100' fir tree was blown over next to the cottage (it missed the cottage). The cottage was unscathed and did not have any damage from the wind. We are looking forward to the day when we can move forward with phase two and work with Chris on that.

Chris was recommended to me by a contractor I was considering using. He drew up plans and helped me with the redesign of my house. It ended up that his suggestions helped me see my space in a new light, and I was able to save money with only minor reconfiguration of my house. He was very friendly, worked within the timeframes we set and provided excellent products. I definitely would recommend him to everyone.

Mr Luthi recently remodeled the reception area and registration desk for my medical office in West Seattle. The work was completed in a reasonable time and was on budget. His attention to detail and suggestions for quality materials provided a beautiful result. I highly recommend him.

Chris has been working on projects with me for over 4 years. He listens, is easy to work with, contributes useful suggestions, and follows up as necessary. The latest project is a garage, walkways, and retaining walls for better landscaping. There will be a modification to the entrance of the house and second floor deck. These plans were approved by the city with a minimum of additional work. He worked well with the contractor. He has worked at my pace and is aware of cost to the client. I would highly recommend him.

Chris added a half dozen drawers to a 23 year old (oak) kitchen cabinets - excellent quality, matched so if you didn't already know you do not notice any difference between old and new and fabulous value. Easy to work with and completely responsive to what you want. I hope to find another opportunity for him to work on my house! (A friend hired him for a kitchen remodel that is another example of his expertise and I've seen, & spent time, in a house project of his that is just great.)

We hired Chris to design an expansion to enlarge and modernize our home. Included in the design were a redesigned bedroom and kitchen with an all new master bedroom,bath, and recreational rooftop patio area. He really listened to our ideas and hopes. He incorporated all of them into the final draft, while adding his own touches that took it beyond our expectations into something we immediately fell in love with.

Chris Luthi did an excellent job preparing both preliminary and final plans for our kitchen remodel. He was very helpful with suggesting design options and explaining what needed to be done. Most important for us, he was willing to listen to our suggestions and concerns, and incorporate changes that we suggested as we moved along the design process. Chris was friendly, easy to talk to, and accessible. We would highly recommend him.

Chris designed a fabulous kitchen/entertaining addition for my ho hum old house. We discussed what I wanted and he came up with a plan that blended beautifully with the existing structure without looking like an afterthought that was tacked on. Chris did more than just draw the plans. He suggested contractors and answered any questions that they had. He was inventive in designing an open airy plan that feels twice as big as it truly is. Chris also knows his building codes and was able to maximize the allowable square footage for the addition. The room was completed almost ten years ago and still looks as fresh as day one. I spend most of my waking time in the addition and never fail to get loads of compliments from visitors to my home.
