This is one of the worst purchases in my entire life. If you are wealthy and want a "pretend" play greenhouse, these are great and look cute. If you want a greenhouse to grow anything inside of, look elsewhere. The cut tolerances were way off on my plexiglass thermal option, I ended up purchasing my own plexiglass and recutting several panels. The greenhouse leaks pretty bad after sealing everything 3+ times. I was told that "greenhouses breathe and I should expect some moisture". The door warped from having so much moisture come in from the panel above it. At the time of purchase (early pandemic), the manual was hard to understand and the YouTube videos for assembly were poor quality and uninformative. The shade cloth and automatic vent openers were totally inappropriate for my climate (they said they were tailored towards the area I live in). Luckily, a local tropical plant grower with a real greenhouse, pointed us to appropriate shade cloth. I contacted the automatic vent manufacturer in England and got the right ones for my climate. The fan I was sold is noisey and needed replacing. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me their product was NOT to be used in greenhouses!
I spent a lot of money for a redwood greenhouse and was surprised to receive phillips head stainless screws for assembly. Torx head fasteners would have been preferable, phillips head screws strip out pretty easily.
Overall, if you can afford to throw money away on a semi professional hobby structure, this is the company for you. They do look cute....

Valued customer,
We appreciate your feedback. We have reached out to you to determine what steps we can take to ensure you are satisfied with your purchase. Thank you again for your purchase and look forward to working towards a solution to these issues.
Update: We offered the customer, at no cost to them, to replace the door, inspect the roof for leaks and determine any next steps to eliminate the leaks, as well as replace the fan with a better solution. We also hope to ask if the customer would like us to reimburse them for parts they had to purchase. It’s been over a year since we last heard from this customer. We hope we have an opportunity to help them with the issues they're having with their greenhouse.

I wanted a small (9'x9') greenhouse to replace half of an old garage and abut against my shed. The location is challenging because the east wall is right on the property line and the greenhouse normally needs 18" clearance in order to be able to installed. I thought of building a 7' tall brick wall for the east wall instead of the normal glass and wood. The company worked with me to customize the Garden Deluxe Greenhouse to fix the space. There was a _lot_ of timely communication, both e-mail and phone to get the measurements just right.
I had another contractor build the floor and base walls to their specifications, but I assembled the greenhouse myself. I'm happy to report that the main framing fix exactly in the space (phew!). There was one minor mistake with a trim piece (that they soon corrected by shipping a replacement at no additional cost to me) and they happily answered my many questions during assembly. (The installation manual, while good, had a few minor mistakes.) The most challenging part of the installation was the glass, especially for the roof: it's heavy, fragile, and generally difficult to work with. In some cases, I had to chisel away some wood to make the glass fit (which was the lesser evil between that and cutting a tiny bit off the glass), but that may have been due to my not getting some parts installed _exactly_ right. Hence, the design isn't forgiving.
It took me approximately two weeks of both before/after work plus weekends to assemble and stain it. The end result is beautiful. I definitely recommend Sturdi-Built and would use them again (although a greenhouse isn't something that one typically buys more than one of).

I bought an 8 x 10 Deluxe Glass to Ground Lean-to from Sturdi-Built in March of 2020.
The cost was a bit more that other companies - but we fell in love with the company and their product when we visited the shop.
We did run into some issues when we installed the GreenHouse post-delivery.
1) We had windows in both the door wall and the back wall. The back-wall window section was a bit out of square and we had to cut the glass to fit. Not what you would expect.
2) Over the door there are two sections of glass - the instructions indicate a piece of material is included to create the union between the two sections of glass. This was not in the delivered material - we were able to cut one of the extra pieces of glass to fit the entire section and piece together a frame to go around the window. Again, not what you would expect.
3) The roof vent did not include a screen - which is strange we thought - we made a screen to fit the opening - but not what you would expect.
4) For the installation of the glass walls we had our son-in-law who is a glass professional assist us with the install. The instructions indicated to pin the upper section of glass with brad nails as you do the install. This did not work as indicate and after much discussion we created pinions to fit between the sections of glass. It worked but not what I expected for the install.
We have taken on many home projects and we are experienced DIYs I am happy with the result - but sadden that there we a couple of missteps. For the amount of money that I paid, it could have better in my opinion. When I called the company to offer my experience, they did not want to talk directly to me and directed me to this web page - not what I would expect.

Tony,
Thank you again for your purchase of our 8x10 Deluxe Glass to Ground Lean-to. We always appreciate feedback from our customers.
If there was an issue with the squareness of the unit, the underlying issue may be that the attaching wall is not plumb or the foundation is out of square. As long as the wall is plumb and foundation is square, no glass cutting will be required, other than the pieces of glass over the door that are left long to account for foundation inconsistencies. It appears your attaching wall was modified to attach a lean-to greenhouse so the modification of the wall could have presented the issue. We're sorry that we forgot the over the door glass -- accidents happen from time to time and we are always ready to take customer calls and send any additional parts, if needed. Cutting glass can be a challenge, we know, so we apologize for the extra effort that created for you.
You are right -- our greenhouses do not come with screens for the vents. As greenhouses are horticultural spaces traditionally, we leave the vents open as many customers like to bring in pollinators. We offer our roof vent screen kits for those who are looking to keep insects and other pests out of the greenhouse.
We're sorry to hear that glazing the greenhouse was a challenge. Yes, the way the glass is installed does take a little finessing but after learning the process it usually goes smoothly for most customers. Glazing a greenhouse is not like glazing a home window; the laps in the glass allow for expansion and contraction as the space heats up and cools down.
Again, we apologize for the challenge our kit was and the fact that one of our employees directed you to this page rather than discussing the issues more personally. We are always willing to work with each customer to make sure that the kits are up to our standards and that all of our customers are satisfied with their purchase. We take pride in our customer service and are always willing to assist. If we can be of help to you, please give us a call and we'd be happy to listen to what is going on and remedy the situation if possible.
Thanks again for purchasing one of our kits! We look forward to continuing to work with you in the future.
Best,
Mark, Chris and team at Sturdi-Built Greenhouse

We purchased the Trillium kit from Sturdi-Built of Portland, Oregon. It required professional assembly and an electrician and irrigation specialist to hookup electric and water. The components are of excellent quality. The greenhouse appearance is pleasing and integrates well with landscaping. The size is just right for a retired teacher turned garden club fanatic. The House is perfectly vented and outfitted with ample workbench space. A greenhouse adds purpose to retirement and encourages projects to share with grandchildren.

Comment from Sturdi-Built Greenhouse Mfg. Co.:
Thank you so much for your review. I am sure your grandkids will build wonderful memories of greenhouse gardening with you.
In 2007 our family purchased a beautiful home along the Willamette River in Oregon. One of the selling features was that in the back yard there was this beautiful custom built looking greenhouse. We assumed the original owners had it built along with the house. Most people who visited would comment on how perfect it fit into our landscape, and even one of our family friends who is a carpenter took tons if pictures of the greenhouse so that he could "copy" the style for one in his garden back in Idaho. It wasn't until recently we discovered thru Houzz and Pinterest that these greenhouses are made her locally. I've looked at the company website a little bit since finding this out, and they have many different styles and sizes. To wrap it up...we have been impressed. The greenhouse has been extremely functional for starting new seedlings and extending our growing season. Not only that, but it is a beautiful structure and is a conversational peace with friends when we are enjoying our back yard. Still somewhat surprised that you can basically buy these off a website. Such nice quality!

In 1995 I was at a friends house and peeked over the hedge and said, if you ever talk to your neighbor and he wants to get rid of the greenhouse, it was obviously not being loved or used, to let us know. The next day, she called and said come get it this weekend while they were away.
After researching the greenhouse, which turned out to be one of the first greenhouses made by your family and Sturdi-built, we moved the greenhouse about 30 blocks down the hill. We took it apart and moved it, of course the internet was just in the beginning stages and very primitive, so we took photos, had the film developed and put it back together according to the photos and with the help of your catalog. The process took us about 3 months of weekend work. We did come over to your showroom many times to purchase minor parts, brads, caulking, poles for the benches and only a few pieces of glass needed to be replaced. I remember you and your family were as nice to us as if had purchased a brand new one and were very excited that one of your original greenhouses was still being used, but at a new location. We enjoyed coming over and looking in your showroom as well as all the photo albums of other greenhouses from all over the USA.
Over the years, we have loved and enjoyed the greenhouse each season. A few years ago, the roof panels were at the end of its life, you found somewhere deep in your buildings the original roof material that was used back then, we greatly appreciated that, because we did not want to alter the original with the 4mm panels currently available. Still, inside today we have all of original fixtures, fans, and climate control equipment. It is filled each spring with seedlings and starts. We still love our greenhouse.
I have had a few friends who wanted a greenhouse just like mine, they ordered from you , and in a few weeks, I have another friend who wants to come for a visit too..
The photos below are of the greenhouse from 1996 after it had been installed for many years, after it was restored in 2007, and how it looks today.
Thank you for everything over the years. Lisa Pridgen
