We purchased a spec home from Ball 3 years ago. We have a faulty plug in the basement that trips every time it rains. This was supposedly fixed during our 1 year inspection. We have a water line in the basement that didn't even meet code that we had to pay to fix when we finished the basement. We have several tiles where the grout and tiles move that was also supposedly fixed at the 1 year review only to pop back up and crack within 3 months of being repaired. They throw homes up and there is no care to quality. I would never buy another Ball Home.

We are in Love with our new home! From start to completion Ball Homes has been everything we could ask for. Gator and his crew fixed any discrepancy that came up, and there were very few. Building this home was a fun experience.

Since I am limited to 20 words. I built a house 14 years ago. During the 14 years I had fewer issues with that house (a different builder) than what I have had with Ball Homes in the last six months. They build a poor QUALITY home and do not stand behind their work. They are the worst builders I have ever worked with.

We are very pleased with our new home and we LOVE the floorplan/layout of our house! Many people are surprised when we share how enjoyable the home building process was for us. Ball Homes really did make building a house very low stress. We had an issue with the lighting company that they use and the Ball Homes customer service addressed it right away. Huge thanks to Tracy and Gator - best of the best!!!

We love our Ball home! The whole process was so easy. We have built several homes over the years and this experience has by far been the easiest, hassle free and actually enjoyable. Kriston Wilson, our Ball Homes Specialist guided us through each step of the process. She helped us pick out our floor plan all the way through our final walk through and closing. The quality of work is amazing. Even after closing they have been right on our punch list fixing everything we had on it. I like that there is a customer service person to call if a problem should arise. We highly recommend if you are considering building/purchasing a home in the Knoxville area that you look into all that Ball homes has to offer. You won’t be disappointed! Ask for Kriston!!!

We built a new home with Ball Homes and we are very pleased! The value Ball Homes provides was unmatched, and we were able to build a home with many luxury features for a fraction of the price. When building with Ball, it is important to remember this is a semi-custom home, not a custom home. Ball Homes approved some of our requests, such as turning a tandem garage into an extra bedroom, but there were other, smaller requests that were denied. Another key to our positive experience was the extreme professionalism of our Ball Homes agent, Kriston Wilson. Kriston answered all our questions accurately, thoroughly, and quickly. She helped us set realistic expectations, and was fabulous at communicating with us throughout the process. Neighbors who used other agents were not as pleased with their building experience. I would definitely build with Ball Homes again, and I highly recommend Kriston Wilson!

We are very pleased with the home we had built by Ball homes. they made sure they met the closing date without compromising the quality. Gator was outstanding and made sure we had everything on the list taken care of before we moved in and even took care of a few things after. I wish for the amount of money we spent they would have put sod down on the whole yard and not the roll stuff they put in our back yard on our hill..

About to sign for a ball home and I’m sick to my stomach thinking about it, the foreman during our walkthrough has been a complete nightmare, he is rude and condescending and I’m not ok with being talked down to. He needs a course in customer service, he seems to be defensive about the sloppy job him and his team has done. I never imagined I’d be buying a brand new fixer upper which is exactly what this home is after realizing all of the half hazard work he did building this house. As soon as I get his name I will be making a formal complaint about the way he talks to customers. I have never in my life been talked down to the way he did in a professional closing of a sale. I will NEVER recommend Ball Homes to anyone, in fact I will make a point to people know they should steer clear of a Ball Home. This was supposed to be our dream home. So very disappointing.

Ball Homes is awful. I would RUN AWAY from them NOW if you are thinking of having them build your home. Or, if you like crappy workmanship, AC that goes out after 1 year (and they are refusing to cover it, both them and the 2-10 warranty company they use) rude people to talk to on the phone AFTER you closed on it, then go ahead, call them up. They can help.

Comment from Ball Homes:
We're sorry to hear that the reviewer is unhappy with the home they purchased, and their experience with our customer service department was unsatisfactory. However, this home is in fact a six year old former model home that was offered for sale and purchased last fall as an existing home (not a new construction home with a builder warranty). While the model homes have never been lived in, they do experience the wear and tear and systems use of an existing home. For that reason we sell them with a re-sale warranty through our insured warranty provider, and the balance of the 10 year structural warranty since the home was constructed. This provides the buyer with some peace of mind but does not imply or carry the same coverage as a new home warranty. The warranties offered are also not administered through our customer service department or by the builder, but through the third party warranty insurer.

As others have said stay far far away from a ball home. I've kept quiet for awhile but issues just keep occurring. Within the first month or so of moving into our home we had issues with a leaking sink, ac stopped working on a hot summer day, dish washer wouldn't work and cracking grout. My biggest issue is our master bathroom floor. The floor tile grout is cracked. Within just a few months of moving in it started to crack. We had it "fixed" for our 6 month warranty and within a short period it began cracking again. So at our 1 year warranty repair it was "fixed" again. Within a few months it cracked again. After complaining to ball customer service they reluctantly "fixed" it again. I believe they came at least 5 times in total and each time they scraped out the old grout, re grouted, we let it set for several weeks, we sealed it and it cracked again within a month or two. The first time the repairmen were nice and said just let them know if it happened again and it would be repaired. The last time the repairman basically said the reason for the cracking was the house settling and we were SOL. So my grout has sat cracked covered by a rug since. Now here we are just after three years since purchasing the house and we just had our dry wall fix. Well I now have a 3-4 foot stripe of mismatched ceiling plaster in my living room. The guy fixing it said he didn't bring ceiling plaster with him on day one so he used wall plaster (which is darker). The next day he put one coat of the lighter plaster on the ceiling and said once it dried it would look fine. Well guess what, one coat of a light grout isn't going to cover it and I have an eye sore on my ceiling to prove it. Ball homes is concerned with quantity of homes and not quality. I absolutely would not recommend anyone get a ball home.

We're sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your home. Although the 2-10 insured warranty provides peace of mind and coverage, we understand that service calls for a new home sometimes represent a frustration and inconvenience for the homeowner. We would note that the limits on re-grouting crack tile that you expressed frustration with are those that are described in the 2-10 insured warranty, which represents industry-wide accepted standards. The warranty describes stipulates that "cracks in grouting of ceramic tile joints in excess of 1/16-inch are deficiencies" and the accepted remedy is "Builder/Seller shall repair grouting as necessary one time only within the first year of Limited Warranty coverage." It further specifies that "regrouting of these cracks is [homeowner's] maintenance responsibility after the Builder/Seller has regrouted once." Please refer to section 7.3 of your warranty booklet for more information.
Having researched the records associated with your home based on the information provided in the review and your street address as provided by Houzz, we talked with the contractor who recently performed your three-year drywall touch-up (which does not include paint). While it is correct that he does not guarantee a color match between the existing and new drywall mud due to coloration changes over time, he is not familiar with the events or circumstances that you describe. He would be happy to make an appointment to review your concerns with you and see if further action is appropriate. Please contact our customer service department if you would like us to schedule this appointment.
