We worked with Lee and Megan to modernize a 1961 split entry home and with their guidance we transformed both the exterior and interior of our house, over about 2 1/2 years. They were great in coming in with ideas that complimented our design aesthetic and were really good at responding to our ideas and suggestions. One of my favorite ways that they work is to offer drawings of a couple options for a space and then use feedback to narrow down to the right design . Lee uses 3D renderings that are almost spot on to the final results and really helped to visualize how everything would turn out. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a modern vibe on a space.

I hired Lee after meeting and reviewing work of at least 7 other architects specializing in contemporary design. A combination of his artistic sense and ability to understand my needs led to a fabulous design that was transformed into plans. His use of variable ceiling heights, flat roof, exposed beams, integration of metal into design and flowing functional spaces was exceptional. Lee is an artist who could create my vision into architectural reality. He is a great professional, always delivering on time, always available and he has a great listening ear. Lee helped me visualize the final product, worked extensively in 3D design to provide a visual feel, created plans for permit submission and helped with a round of revision. He was always available for construction supervision and caught critical issues in a timely manner when the contractor made mistakes. He helped me with interior design, color and finish selections and later created an additional backyard extension plan. Lee is easy to get along, has a great work ethic and sense of humor, making the arduous process of construction fun.

Lee and his team did a wonderful job fulfilling our dream to build a deck on the top floor of our home. We wanted a space that was modern and designed to suit our taste and needs. He was very attentive to our concerns and was able to give us much needed advice in areas that we were not familiar with (i.e. securing city permits, seeking advice from trustworthy structural engineers, subcontracting with reliable builders,...). He was able to stick with our planned budget. We could not be happier with the results. In fact, he exceeded our expectations with his strong sense of design and esthetics. Our upstairs deck has added great value to our home. Throughout our project, Lee was always punctual, thorough, professional, available and most importantly cheerful and friendly!

As a structural engineer I have collaborated with Lee on several projects, and have always been impressed with the experience. Lee's designs are thoughtful and well detailed, and he has always has a clear idea of the way a project will be built. He communicates effectively and is always prompt to reply to my questions and requests for information. He often constructs a 3-D model of the project, which allows for clear communication between designer and engineer, and facilitates creative structural solutions that fulfill the design intent while providing structural integrity. Lee provided us with a design for our new home. My husband and I had some very specific requirements about layout, orientation and overall aesthetic and Lee was able to translate our thoughts into a beautiful architectural design. While he pushed the interest factor, he always stayed within the parameters we had established and ultimately created what will be our dream home. We had a very specific budget and deadline and Lee was very diligent and mindful of both throughout the process. We would hire Lee again and would recommend him (and already have) to anyone looking for a quality, custom design.

Lee transformed our kitchen from a small unattractive space with limited counter space to a beautiful, wide open space with high ceilings, twice as much counter space, better lighting and a functional work flow. People who knew the space before immediately comment that this design is natural and how it should have been all along. We agree. And perhaps best of all is to get such a great result when our project was on a tight budget. Lee was higly responsive and worked well with the contractor and structural engineer. He was able to quickly resolve permitting issues (not of our doing). We look forward to working with him again.

It was a pleasure working with Lee Edwards. I was the Superintendent on site coordinating the construction of a project designed by Lee. Lee’s experience and understanding of construction makes the building process far more interactive and streamlined as he has already given thought to how details will actually be built. As a builder, I can work directly from his detailed drawings or we can work together to finalize details that have already been well thought out and simply need to be adapted to situations on site. He understands the language of “the field” and can quickly comprehend and offer suggestions for any changes that may need to be made during the building process, which helps keep the project moving efficiently. He is always open to suggestions or alterations that may decrease costs and save time. All of this ultimately produces a collaborative and enjoyable building process where the schedule can be met and costs can be controlled.

Lee Edwards was outstanding! Lee Edwards Residential Design was a pleasure to work with, provided keen insight, meticulously designed the contemporary home and was always respectful of our client’s budget. This was our client’s first construction project and though they were a bit nervous, his expertise and guidance made all the difference. Lee went the extra mile for our clients and assisted with some of the final punch list work and construction debris disposal. Some of the features of this lovely new home include a Sonos surround system, radiant floor heat, fir ceilings, decorative landscape railings at the entry, a roof top deck with pedestal pavers and a decorative metal railing, custom cabinets, glulam stair treads, and many glass re-lites creating an open, natural light environment in both bedrooms and bathrooms. If you are looking for a classy design mixed with real life practicality and professionalism, look no further than Lee Edwards Residential Design.

We are just thrilled with Lee's design for our extensive remodel. Lee is creative yet practical, skilled yet reasonably priced, and professional yet easy to work with. Lee obviously has a special eye for the modern design but he can apply his skills to traditional and other styles as well. He's not one of those architects who will push you to the extremes of pricey materials if you don't want them nd he repects your priorities. He's good at finding practical solutions that work within your budget . Lastly but importantly, he's adept at resolving client couples conflicting needs!
