We undertook a three year remodel in Fort Lauderdale with Gulf. It turned out to be ~16,000 sq ft of new construction. Everything was state of the art- complete and advanced smart house (controlling lights, TV;s, AC, art lights, wine cellar, music, doors, alarm, drapes, gates, cameras, water, pools, fireplaces, from an iPAD in every room) ; three huge pools (two lap pools); two spa's; 200 foot dock (with three power pedestals, boat lift, jet ski lift and floating dock);, state of the art AC, insulation; windows, doors and generator; kitchen imported from from Germany; stone floors and walls from France; two separate and massive two ton driveway gates; gorgeous above ground and visible wine cellar, electronic fireplaces and fire bowl; huge BBQ center; reclaimed lumber from a barn in Nantucket as beams and trim; massive underground drainage system built around the entire house on the entire property; massive copper gutters; spectacular hardscape installed by Gulf by famed California designer; landscaping with massive palm trees imported around the pools and in the front and back of the yard; four outdoor loggias; giant trellises, huge paneled library with spectacular wet bar, teak outdoor shower, built in cabinets and desks everywhere; parlor room,- and the list goes on and on.
John Scherer (principal of Gulf) was a tremendous engineering, construction and networking resource for basically everything. Since we were from California, we really didn't understand construction on the water in South Florida. John was very quantitative about analyzing (and explaining) things- together we evaluated solar panels (decided not to do them), but he helped analyze the best windows, docks, generators, pools, roof materials, paint, etc., and worked with us in a patient and always calm and knowledgeable manner. Bidding and billing was always transparent and we always felt we were a valued client. He has lived in Fort Lauderdale for his entire life so he knows all of the best subcontractors. The house has been featured in numerous national and local magazines and trade journals, and even found itself on the back cover of the Miami Heat 2016 calendar! It is a stunning masterpiece, and Gulf has always come out to do warranty work, even when we are way beyond the time left on the warranty. The quality is outstanding; John never cut a corner, always did the highest quality work. Permitting was seamless for the client. The house feels really quiet and solid, it is really holding up two years after the construction, which is saying something with the ravages of the climate and salt water in South Florida. I would definitely recommend Gulf.
PS. Gulf also repaired our townhouse after a large water leak flooded three floors. They were fast, professional, extremely knowledgeable, and of outstanding high quality.
