The Abraxis painting team was great, delivered everything they said they would and more! The painting was done on time, with a very organized crew. Let me begin by saying that Laura was amazing to work with and we appreciate everything she did for us. We were referred to Laura by one of her clients and the first time I called her she was at an appointment and said she was expecting my call but would have to call me back.... and she did just that, 30 minutes later she called me back. Within a couple of days Laura was at our house meeting with the architect. This first introduction to Laura set the stage for the entire project: -Laura was always prompt and flexible with her availability. She responded quickly to both texts and emails. All of which I appreciated as I was trying to jungle my responsibilities at work and home along with this reno. -Laura was always prepared for our meetings, with samples, referrals, lots of ideas and suggestions. She took the time to understand what we liked and always provided options with that in mind. -Laura always explained what was going to happen and set our expectation for what was coming up next. She always outlined the pros and cons on various issues so we could make a decision. -Laura provided weekly reports with the activities completed, the issues encountered and included photos. This was very helpful to document the process but also kept us updated in a structured manner. We are going to start our next project very shortly and look forward to working with Laura again.

We found Urban Ideas on Houzz and hired this design and construction firm based on numerous positive reviews and Best of Houzz customer service awards. We were not disappointed! We were converting a garage in our townhouse into a children's recreation room. The team understood our requirements and worked very hard to complete the construction phase of our project before Christmas. They succeeded. The room looks fun and sophisticated and is also very space efficient with great storage. Laura and Darby provided us with choices (ex. choices around room layout, type of cabinetry, carpeting etc. ) and always tried to save us money where possible. The workers, who are extremely reliable and trustworthy, completed the job quietly and efficiently. It is obvious that they take pride in their work. Due to Laura and Darby's excellent work ethic and beautiful design sense I plan on using Urban Ideas for an upcoming kitchen project this spring.

My husband and I engaged Urban Ideas to design and build a new kitchen space. Laura and Anita presented excellent ideas for an awkward kitchen space. The job expanded to include a powder room as well as elements in the dining and living rooms. They listened carefully to our must have’s and challenged us to think differently. The overall function and appearance of the renovated spaces is wonderful. There is no way we could have come done it without Laura and Anita. Although living through a renovation is difficult Laura and her construction team lead by Jerry did a fabulous job. The work was completed professionally and all the trades were coordinated. Laura’s enthusiasm, knowledge and dedication was key to the project. I would recommend Laura and the team at Urban Ideas.

I contracted Urban Ideas to undertake our house renovation, a fairly major one consisting of removing a wall between the kitchen and dining room, complete gutting of the kitchen and bathroom, removal of all wallpaper throughout the house, opening up a door into a sunroom, refinishing floors, re-wiring, and new plumbing in some locations, and re-painting. The work started on January 6, 2014, and was finished at the beginning of April, 2014, and came in close to what I had budgeted, although there were some extra costs which couldn't have been foreseen at the beginning of the job. Laura, the principal of Urban Ideas, has an excellent team, including a fabulous contractor, Jerry, who seemingly can turn his hand to anything. The wonderful thing about this whole experience was that the members of the team always and without exception said what they were going to do, how long it would take, and did it. The entire job was well planned and executed with precision, thanks to the drive, energy, and enthusiasm of Laura whose planning abilities and knowledge of construction issues are second to none. We now have a beautifully renovated house, including a well planned and lovely kitchen. I will definitely use the company again - this time the basement - and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who's planning a renovation.

I have been working personaly with Laura for at least 8 years and it has been a pleasure to interact with her and her approach to design... she is a happy person and makes my job as a salesrep very easy and enjoyable.. She is a dedicated designer that really looks after her clients interests...

Totally UNprofessional. We made a consultation appointment for our main floor renovation (kitchen and living room) and got a no-show: no phone call, no email, no explanation. We understand that this is a busy season for renovations, but in this world of multi forms of communication, it would have taken a couple of minutes to email us that the company either couldn't do our job or decided that it wasn't something they wanted to do. We were/are very disappointed.
