It's been six months since we've moved in and I have to say that WE LOVE OUR COVAL HOME!! We remain highly impressed and appreciative of the lovely craftsmanship, the floorplan, as well as how energy/climate-efficient our home is. Now that the summer heat has arrived, we are so grateful for the standard HVAC that Coval offers with their homes. Family and guests who visit us rave about the functional and beautiful design (we built an Alderwood). Building our home with Coval is one of the best decisions we have made; they really made our dream of building our own amazing home come true.

"My wife and I are in the process of building their Alderwood model. We just started. We have few months to go to finish. The work so far is on time, communication with Coval is excellent, especially with our project manager, Clif, they are kind and informative. Our house looks more beautiful than we expected. Thank you, Coval, keep up good work, and communication. Good communication is a key to customer satisfaction!

BEWARE- Might be long, but worth reading before you sign anything with Coval.
Worst experience ever, and I have built 2 other homes with “on your lot” builders, I know the process. Once you sign the contract, no one cares or even bothers to return your calls; from the sales staff to project managers to CEO Dave Brimhall. True picture of the way you will be treated comes AFTER YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT.
Our sales rep Joey was fabulous UNTIL our contract was signed. Then we quickly realized none of what he told us regarding 90 day price lock was true, which led us down a path of pure misery. He never responded to my emails or calls after the ink dried. His job is to get you to sign, telling the truth is not a factor in that process. Sales will say anything just to get you to sign the contract, then the true picture of who they are as a company becomes crystal clear.
Nowhere in my contract, nowhere on their website, nor were we ever told the following, sent to me by CEO Dave Brimhall AFTER I HAD COMPLETED ALL ITEMS REQUIRED BY HOMEOWNER prior to the 90 day price lock expiring. They had ignored dozens of calls and emails for 3 weeks, waited until 3 days prior to my 90 days expiring to send this (after chastising me for my many calls and emails): "Please plan for the following timeline: After you are 100% ready we will verify the site within 7-10 working days of your notice. (which includes approving all pending change orders) Only after your site has been verified then we will assign a project manager within 2-3 weeks depending on current workloads. Foundation pours can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to get in the cue depending on the current workload. We ask that you use the timeline above to plan accordingly." Or as stated by their attorney, it is "not feasible to pour the foundation footing within the 90-day period applicable to the price lock terms". Nowhere do they disclose they need way over half of your 90 day price lock period just to prepare to start the foundation work (they do no planning or prep prior to), all of which needs to be done prior to 90 days expiring. The change orders they were forcing me to sign were 33K in price increases I could not afford even though everything was ready to pour foundation. None of this was disclosed or in my contract. They do not tell you this part until you're in so deep financially and emotionally that they assume you will not walk away. We had all land prep, driveway, house pad, permits, electric, water, geo-tech, engineering, etc, ALL REQUIREMENTS DONE, 102K of work done, ready for foundation pour prior to the 90 days expiring. They still refused to build until I agreed to pay them more $$. When I refused, they immediately locked me out of all my files, documents & correspondence (on their builder platform). We were forced to liquidate and lose our dream. When you meet their goals, they just move the goal post.
I would not risk building a dog house with Coval. Contact me if you would like proof/more info

If you care about your sanity and actually getting your house built, Do NOT build with Coval. They do NOT care about their customers. This process has been a complete nightmare from start to finish. We have had 3 Project Managers due to their staffing issues, a very hard time getting them to return calls/messages and they have zero accountability for the contractors they hire. Contractors had the heat on as high af it would go with doors wide open to the outside during December and January, causing us to have electric bills of over$450 and $470. This was brought to the PMs attention every time and yet they just gave us a lame answers about the contractors knowing they aren't supposed to do that. They refused to hold their contractors accountable, nor compensate us (they refused) for that. Put the wrong trusses in and had to remove part of the already complete roof to fix it. Of the first 168 non-weekend, non- holiday possible building days when the ball was in their court (home owner responsibilities done), the was ZERO activity of ANY kind for 111 of those days. Their contractors damaged our garage door and they wanted US to file a police report claiming vandalism, so it would have to go on OUR builder's insurance. We let them know that was actually a crime and we would not be doing that.
There is so much more, but I think you get the idea. If we had it to do over, we would go with a builder who does not use contractors, but has employees instead.
Very unhappy customers

Comment from Coval Homes:
Your review was discussed at length with our Management team and we want to say that we regret the difficulties that you experienced.
(True) The trusses delivered had no vault initially. (Yes) 3 Project managers isn't a normal experience. Yes, sometimes there are days no trades are on site. However, regarding your garage door, we did pay for that damage = $890, although no proof was provided to us. And while many custom builders take hundreds of days to build a new home, we finished your home from framing to carpet installation in only 171 work days.
Our goal is always to address the issues and try to create the best possible outcome for you and our team while holding to the established policies in the contract we all agreed to.
You're welcome to send more information to our FEEDBACK system ( https://covalhomes.com/general-feedback-form/ ) and Management will review them directly.

We built our home with Coval homes and moved in in Sept of 2021. Getting to the move in date was difficult and Coval never finished their punch list items completely. This week we had the issue of our kitchen sink falling away from the countertop and no one wants to return my calls - not getting return correspondence was expected and not surprising. Everyone who wants to build with this company needs to be aware that their time lines were always off, delayed and costly. Additionally their project management was very poor and unresponsive. This company is seemingly misleading people on the idea they care about the customers experience and they take ownership and pride on the homes they build, but in reality it's far from the ideal they sell. We are nervous and now questioning all of the craftsmanship in our home.

Comment from Coval Homes:
This is disappointing to read. It sounds like we have missed the mark with regard to your expectations from us and the vendor.
New Construction is always challenging and certainly building through the last few years has been even more difficult for all builders in Washington. We genuinely care very much for each customer's experience and the quality of every home. Your message has been relayed to the appropriate people to see how this can be resolved.
Thank you for letting us know and giving us the opportunity to remedy this for you.

We hired Coval Homes to build our home in the Eatonville vicinity. Our on site project management was very poor and our project manager was not onsite often. Luckily we were living onsite and were able to catch much of the issues before it was too late. The house was finished and closed out with out any staff from Coval Homes coming on site, we did not have any Coval Homes project managers or any staff on site since the house was 70% complete. The warranty stage is where we began to have huge issues and continue to have issues. Coval will not stand behind their work and are trying to say that everything was installed correctly. I have pictures that are clear as day of the lifting of the sheathing on the roof due to inadequate space between sheets for movement. Also the sheeting was not properly nailed to trusses. Another major issue is the amount of sheet rock nails that popped over the first winter, there were approximately 70 that had to be repaired and more are already showing again. Coval states that there is no issue with the roof, if you want your brand new home to look like this then go ahead and use Coval. I would not recommend Coval Homes for anything. Please pass the word onto anyone who is looking for a builder that Coval Homes will take your money but not guarantee their work.

When considering a home builder, Coval made the short list for my husband and I. Gary, the sales manager for their Kitsap branch, was responsive and knowledgeable about all aspects of the design and build, and prompt to answer our questions day or night. We also greatly appreciated that Gary took the time to listen, and made recommendations based on what would work best for us, even if it didn’t mean going with the most expensive option. Ultimately, we made the decision to go with a different homebuilder given our criteria required a more custom build, but I would not hesitate to recommend Coval when you’re ready to build your new home.

My family built our home thru Coval, and we were very, very happy with the results! Gary helped walk us thru the entire process as this was our first time building a home. We had lots of freedom when it came to upgrades, and it was a very good experience. My kids loved being a part of the design process, and Gary and his team were very welcoming when we needed to bring the whole family in. Communication was great, and all the contractors were amazing. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions

I will keep it short and sweet. I picked and home plan and made all the changes and the design team was great and had fast turn around times on rough drafts up to the final blueprint. I had a new project manager to Coval homes when I started my home. Over all they built a great home for the cost. Lack
Of communication was the biggest downfall
From my opinion... after talking to other home
Owners who used competition builders I was overall the happiest with my outcome compared to others. I ended up with a large amount of equity in the end and was pleased with the outcome of our new home. The upgrades may seem spendy but worth it in the end.

We had a wonderful experience with Coval homes. They completed our project in a very timely manner using excellent communication throughout the build. We recommend them to all friends and family that are considering the building process. When we speak about Coval it is with such appreciation for the wonderful job they have done on our beautiful home.
