David Kaplan Interior Design LLC

We have used David’s interior design services on three separate occasions in two different homes—and if that doesn’t indicate that we were highly satisfied with his work, then I don’t know what would. We initially hired David to complete a gut renovation of a 1960s era ranch house in Southampton, NY in 2006, I believe. This was the first time that we had hired a designer, and David was patient with us and a consummate professional throughout the process. He gave us sage advice about where to invest our money and where we could save it—including his counsel to use the space for a bit first and see where we really spent our time, which features of the house we loved and which we hated. The end result was spectacular, and one of my favorite features that David suggested was opening up an exterior wall to allow for a 16-foot expanse of sliding glass doors that allowed us to look out onto the bay. A few years later, we hired David again—this time to renovate a Brooklyn brownstone dating back to the 1860s. He helped turn a beautiful but rather dark and dated house into a brighter, more colorful, family-friendly home. And finally, after we left the NYC area, we recently hired David for a smaller scale renovation of that same Brooklyn house to update it for the rental market, including a gut renovation of the two bathrooms, as well as some cosmetic updates throughout. David is a smart and creative designer, and he has consistently made suggestions that improved our living spaces while working within our budget. He is extremely well-organized, polite, and professional, and I would absolutely recommend his services.

Meeting and working with David Kaplan was one of the best parts of moving to NYC! My wife and I had never worked with an interior designer, and David was approachable, patient and guided us through the design process very thoroughly. He transformed our NYC apartment into a stunning place to live and entertain. He introduced us to colors, patterns and designs that we wouldn't (and couldn't) have thought of ourselves. I love coming home to our beautifully designed apartment. He was also a professional in dealing with the supply chain issues that the pandemic brought - keeping us in the loop on delays and delivery dates. The highlights include: column wallpaper, office/guest room design, peacock colored chairs and ottoman in the sitting area, the dining table & incredible lighting above it, just to name a few. I thoroughly enjoy working with David. He has a great sense of colors and styles and combines them to create rooms with personality but without being overbearing, Spaces in which you can feel comfortable immediately since there is an overall balance and coherence while still having elements that stand out. David captured the sense of what I wanted to have and created my perfect place. I highly recommend him.

David is an excellent interior designer and exceptionally easy to work with. We first hired David in 1999 for the full interior design of a new two-bedroom apartment. We loved his work then, and received so many compliments, that we've gone back to him time and again for six different residences over the years in four different states. It has been a great pleasure to work with David Kaplan on several projects in our NYC apartment, where the challenges included creating a floor plan that maximizes multiple functions in the living space, design of customized furniture and locating other furniture and fabrics that beautifully blended in with our personal tastes and lifestyle.
