Lisa & Leroy is owned and directed by Lisa Shaffer. With more than 15 years of experience in residential home renovation and design, Lisa leads a team of experts in creating an environment that not only fits your lifestyle but will make you #swoon Leroy is Lisa’s trusted pup (and constant smile maker) and while he doesn't participate in selecting your interior finishes, you may see his sunny disposition if you ever pop by our Washington, DC design studio. Offering design, renovation and interior decorating services across the globe, we are a full-service studio with a completely custom approach. Our projects range from full home renovations to living room revamps and everything in between. We believe in chic, curated interiors & non-stuffy sophistication. We’re into mixing old with new and preserving history when possible. We love a nod of whimsy, a touch of black, a well-placed animal print, and brass is our favorite color. We are friends of our local makers and rooted in our communities. And dogs…all of them…make us happy.

I love our Lisa and Leroy designed living room. Lisa took our old 1900 home and mixed in my eclectic taste and the classic style of the home to put together something I never would have thought of on my own. She really maximized the space and no detail was too small. We are continuing to work with Lisa + Leroy on our master bedroom and to zhuzz up other areas of our house.

We had a great experience with Lisa and her team!!! They designed our kitchen remodel, living room and dining room and made all 3 flow seamlessly. They suggested furnishings that I couldn’t imagine would fit together - but the results were fabulous. They gave our home a fresh, modern and stylish look yet totally functional for a family of 5. Lisa and her team did an incredible job designing and executing my project. It was a total top-to-bottom renovation on an old rowhome in DC so everything had to be designed and built from scratch. Without her expert guidance, I would not have thought to include an incredible feature window, a second half-bath, and countless other details and finishes. Best of all was that I could be as "hands on" or "hands off" as I wanted. They are more than capable of moving things forward on their own, but always seek my input so they know I'm happy with the product! I cannot wait to work with Lisa & Leroy on my next project.

We used Lisa & Leroy's design team during a 50% gut renovation of our home. They reconfigured and redesigned our kitchen and laundry room as well as added a second-floor sunroom (new addition). Not being design-oriented, we basically told them we did NOT want as well as one or two things we did want and they listened so well that their initial design was about 90% perfect with just a few small tweaks to finalize. For example, I told them that I did not want the refrigerator to be the first thing seen upon entering the home (open floor plan). They designed the kitchen so the fridge blends seamlessly into the cabinets and doesn't face the entryway. I also told them that we like earth tones and jewel tones and they picked the most beautiful earth green cabinetry. We loved the design team and their responsiveness and ability to just run with the project since we were really relying on their expertise for the design elements! Plus they all love dogs. Highly recommend!

Lisa and her team were so easy to work with. I am completely delighted with the end result. The English basement in my 110+ year old row house is now a light-filled, welcoming one bedroom, one bathroom apartment. Its 600 square feet of space now feels so much bigger thanks to its custom kitchen and a bright new bathroom. Earlier renovations had left the basement with four different sets of trim, molding and disjointed seams where different eras of construction met. The Lisa & Leroy team unified the space with a consistent set of trim, molding, door and hinge hardware, light switch panels, flooring, tiles and cabinet finish. The icing on the cake are the sleek roller blinds that make the space complete. Our basement flat was rented in less than a week after project completion and our tenant is absolutely delighted with her new home. I am looking forward to working with Lisa and her team for future projects. - Jan

Lisa did a fantastic job of designing our main floor in our new home! She has incredible taste, talent and vision, bringing beauty and function that is absolutely perfect for our family. My husband and my design requests, which are often diametrically opposed, were both heard and incorporated to create a space we both love. Lisa helped us with our 2016 house renovation including a major bath overhaul, full kitchen remodel, new floors, lighting, laundry, mud room, etc. She jumped in about midway through the project and worked within our budget and style preferences. She sourced several items that we couldn't find on our own and advised on alternative options when what we liked didn't exactly fit our budget. She's highly knowledgeable, a good listener, and has a great eye. We're very pleased with the outcome of her design work!
