Mark Fichandler started Studio-Fichandler in 2010 after a 20-year career as an executive producer of television documentaries. During the process of renovating and designing three spaces of his own, he realized his love of creating the perfect home and wanted to share that with others. Striving for a comfortable, eclectic, undecorated look, Mark is a big fan of “adaptive reuse,” mixing rejuvenated favorite pieces with those key new choices that create a fresh look. He relishes the dialogue with clients, which he feels brings out the best in his and their design aspirations. Mark believes that the “hand of the decorator should be lightly placed upon the interior” and that a home should mirror the character of its inhabitants, as interpreted through his aesthetic. Primarily based in New York City, he also works in the Hamptons, New Jersey, Florida and Southern California. Mark’s favorite charity is ARF – The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons. Therefore, “if the sofa isn’t comfortable for Sparky, it just doesn’t work.”
