Laundry room

Hi everyone!! I was hoping that I could ask anyone if they have any experience with compact washers and dryers?? The space I have in my home is limited, and while it could fit a full size washer/dryer, a compact would give me a little extra space....thoughts? Experiences? Pros/Cons?

It will a laundry/bathroom in the basement. The room is about 6'x5'. Main reason for considering the compact size is that with the full size washer/dryer, when the door of the dryer is open, it may hit the toilet, so only able to open a little over half way. Functional, but may be annoying. We have plumbing to have the sink between the washer and dryer, so it should look something like the attached photo.

I had compact in a rental townhouse. It was just two of us, and it was great. If at that time I had a full size washer/ dryer, I would be doing laundry with half loads.
Now with two kids running from sport to sport, a full size one is better for us.
In terms of quality, the european brands have excellent compact machines ( bosch, miele, siemens), but LG has some good compact models as well.

So it depends on your family and the amount of laundry you do.

Thanks! So far it is just the 2 of us! No plans for little one's any time soon!!

Did you have any trouble fitting sheets and towels? (I know the loads will have to me smaller!)

I had a Frigidaire front loader for years that I loved. Not really that compact just not oversized like the current trend

No trouble at all with sheets or blankets, king size comforters might be an issue ( we had queen size and they were Ok)

I have a Bosch Axxis 2.2 Cu Ft 15 cycle washer, and the Bosch 3.9 Cu Ft 9 cycle dryer. I went with the compact machines for a reason similar to yours. The machines are in our mud room, and the new high efficiency machines were all too deep and wouldn't have allowed me to open the door to the yard. PRO: high efficiency, big enough for washing our clothes (just two of us) and our dog's toys and bedding. CONS: can't fit a king size quilt, and the max spin is too loud (I just knock it down to a slower spin, so it's not really a problem. Overall, I'm glad I have machines that make our mud room more functional, and I'd buy them again unless I could find a larger space for the laundry room.

Thank you!! We don't have any king size blankets, so as long as it can handle queen sheets and duvet cover, we would be ok I think!

Our king duvet, sheets and blankets all fit (separately) without a problem.

Hi Carolina! I'm a bit late on this post but wanted to double check with you. You can fit a king duvet and blanket in a 2.2 cu ft washer? I'm dealing with this dilemma now and wanted to make sure so I can buy the right washer/dryer. Let me know. Thank you!

Yes. I can fit a king duvet cover and a king blanket, separately, in the washer. The duvet insert is too big to fit. The washer has a sticker that says max load 17.7 lbs or 8 kg. That weight limit combined with the volume hopefully gives you an idea.
