Thank you so much for article. We lost our home in the Carr Fire, Redding CA on July 26th. Your article was a great help to me.

kcapfer81, I'm so sorry for your loss. What an awful experience. I encourage you to be incredibly kind to and patient with yourself today, and in the days to come. Rebuilding can be arduous. Unless you have been through it, it's hard to understand the exhaustion and disorientation that accompanies losing your home and all your possessions. Take it one day—even one minute—at a time. Finally, I highly recommend hiring a public adjuster to help you negotiate with your insurance adjuster. For us it was worth every penny.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing. I have gone thru same, fire last May, it was arson. We made it out because of alert neighbors. My mom was 95, and in a wheel chair. Yes you are in a state of shock for a few days. My mother passed a few months after. Still in the very slow rebuilding process...it is so frustrating but I am going to see it thru. Thanks again it is nice to read that there is an end...or beginning in a rebuilt home.
Blessings.
