You can use a pickling white stain and just have a water-based finish applied and you won't need to redo them as often. This sounds like an oil, which does require frequent reapplication.

I am a designer and just finished creating floors very similar to this from old orange oak floors. The problem is you need to bleach the floors with furniture bleach. You can never get them light enough with stains because the underlying color is still too dark. Trying to "pickle" them with opaque white stain just gives you a rubbed painted look that I don't think you want.
Get a really good refinisher who knows what they are doing to bleach the floors and I think you will love them so much, you won't have to do anything else but put clear satin on them.

I am taking a lucky shot that the floors are by DuChateau called greystone from the terra collection. Unique floors. Really different.

I love the lantern - on the floor and wood piece next to it - any references how to find or where to look? thank you.

You can view the collection on the duchateau.com website. Tauben floors in NJ sells it. Tauben phone is 1800 828 7608. Please keep in mind, because these floors are custom made there could be a huge variation in color when floors arrive...as were mine! Although I must admit du chateau floors are unique.

This is not a "pickled" finish. Not even close.

Your local sherwin I Williams store can call the California rep and give them the formula. It was very easy for us in RI to obtain that color.

Thank you! We buy our natural rugs in bulk and have them cut & bound to exact sizes for each particular space. This was a custom piece as well. Sorry I can't help more...

Was the rug made of wool, jute or sisal? And is it more light tan or gray?

    Oak & Broad

There are way to many variables in flooring for anyone to answer that question in an accurate way.

Thank you very much, unfortunately we cannot publicly share our floor plans as they are creative property of the designers involved.

They're actually the same color, the beams have a lacquer finish. It's a color called "Old Quaker" from Sherwin Williams. Two different finishes

We have all of our natural fiber rugs custom cut & bound for each space. We use a local vendor. This is a natural jute rug with grey binding

        What Houzz contributors are saying:

Rachel Grace added this to Renovation Material: Cerused OakMay 8, 2012

Perfectly suited for a California beach house, cerused flooring has a whitewashed appearance and creates a casual elegance.
