I am trying to decorate a small bath in basement. Did anyone ever figure out for sure what color this is on the walls?
  • zjhalk
I'm pretty sure it's Ben Moore's metropolitan. Try it - if your bath is small, you won't be wasting that much money or time if you decide you don't like it. We think it's perfect and have received many compliments. Good luck on your project.

I went to Benjamin Moore, they told me the color was Eagle Rock and it doesn't look the same....:(
  • lildawg1216
I had the same problem...they told me Metropolis was also called Eagle Rock, and when I put the sample up it was not the same color.

True! There are two sets of door knobs. :) The powder room entry door knob is oil rubbed bronze and the cabinet door knobs are polished chrome!
  • dyvalll
Thanks I am sorry I did mean the door knob for the entry door, not the cupboards.

You're right, the Foremost is rather non-discrete! :) I also agree that Toto makes one of the best toilets these days. We specify them for the majority of our projects.

Nice question, I think for asking this question here you must search on Google for the brand name which is popular.

It is Giallo Ornamental granite. It was custom fabricated with a 1-1/2" flat polished edge profile.

If you've painted on the color from the sample size, not to worry. I worked on a project where 3 out of the 9 samples I tried were very off from my color deck and paint chips from Benjamin Moore. It's difficult for them to get the "recipe" right in a smaller amount. But in the end, the gallons and pints were true to the paint chips I had shown my clients and not the off color of the paint sample size. If that's not the case, it could be the adjacency to other colors in the room that are pulling more of the brown undertones as opposed to the gray. I hope that helps!
  • Yolanda
Good advice! We learned the hard way. Most paint places will sell you samples and we now paint BIG swatches in different areas of the room, compare them @ day, night, angles, etc. I've used Sherwin Williams "Requisite Gray" to achieve similar warm gray tone. But beware of the lighting in the room because it makes a huge difference.

LED light technology is improving very quickly and in a few years they will be comparable in colour and brightness to halogens. There are LEDs presently on the market that are fairly close with 2700K colour and the most apparent difference being the diffusion of light.

The room's ceiling height is 96" and the tiles are 38" A.F.F. (please keep in mind that you generally want the tiles to be 6" taller than the vanity counters, so if you have kitchen height counters, you would want to install the tiles at 42" A.F.F.) Best, BiglarKinyan

It is a marble chair rail. You would need tile adhesive, trowel, grout, sponge, and a wet saw to miter the corners. It would be highly recommended to hire a professional tiler for such projects. Best regards, BiglarKinyan Design Toronto.

Not that I know of, however, if the marble has become dirty over time, it is possible to have it professionally cleaned and polished. We worked on a project a few years ago where Avenue Marble Restoration was able to successfully remove 30 years of dirt from white marble surrounding a wood-burning fireplace.

You can't go wrong with a smokey gray (much lighter than the walls) or a dark charcoal (in which case you should use brushed nickel hardware on the door. Good luck on your project.

They are from Olympia Tile International. Natural stones do have intrinsic variations in colour and pattern from batch to batch because they are cut from different blocks belonging to different parts of quarries.
