Designer Sabrina Alfin aimed for a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors, using the view of the lovely gardens and bucolic surroundings as inspiration for the colorful palette and global design influences. Indigo, Chinese red, and bright yellow-gold in textiles and accessories pop off the neutral ground of gray and white to create an effect that is decidedly dramatic and modern, yet also classic and elegant. True to her credo of making responsible, sustainable choices, materials and furnishings for the space were carefully selected to be both literally and figuratively green: the living walls bring the outside in for improved air quality, floor coverings are made of 100% recycled materials, furnishings are either antique or made from rapidly renewable sources, lighting is outfitted with CFL bulbs for reduced energy consumption, and all paint used has zero VOCs. The Rascal's Clubhouse - Treehouse An annual fall tradition. Project Playhouse is dedicated to creating magical playhouses and bringing together teams of professionals and volunteers who work in concert to enrich the lives of those in need. This special event benefits HomeAid Orange County’s mission of building homes for those in need. We have been greatly honored to participate in Project Playhouse as volunteer artists to help bring life to dreams of the archtitect's; from blueprint to design of fantacy ideas which all translates through our paintbrushes as one fun project. Everything you see about this Treehouse in the form of color design, paints, stains, faux finishes, palette creation from the window frames to the tree bark where designed and performed by Jacqueline Coburn and her Interior Art team. Interior and Exterior. What fun. This treehouse was created in only 30 days from blueprints to finish. I showed up at a "highly secret location" behind a fenceline to find a team of 10-15 guys standing around on a windy hillside next to a makeshift plywood drafting table someplace on an empty lot on Newport Coast where we all studied the blueprints in awe of the possiblitlities; this treehouse was due to install in only 30 days from this date in Fashion Island. WOW what a fun and joyful journey into volunteerism! Designed in 1949 by Pietro Belluschi this Northwest style house sits adjacent to a stream in a 2-acre garden. The current owners asked us to design a new wing with a sitting room, master bedroom and bath and to renovate the kitchen. Details and materials from the original design were used throughout the addition. Special foundations were employed at the Master Bedroom to protect a mature Japanese maple. In the Master Bath a private garden court opens the shower and lavatory area to generous outside light.
