Mark Powell

Another successful project with mackmiller design+build! I'm happy with the product, the workers, and especially with Mark and Mary Mackmiller. We needed to replace our cedar deck. Mark came over and walked me through all the options to help me make a decision. Mary helped me with the color choice. The quality of the materials and the work was excellent. Mark communicated about progress and a few material delays. At the end Mark took extra time to clean up the worksite. We have worked with mackmiller design+build on several projects over the last 10 years. I recommend them without reservation. It's great to have someone you can trust to do the right thing.

We had the pleasure of working with mackmiller design+build for our kitchen remodel in addition to replacing a fireplace surround and some trim replacement. Mark and Mary are wonderful to work with. They respected our house like it was their own. They are both very hands on. Mark is onsite and doing much of the work himself or in direct conjunction with the subs who they clearly have long established relationships with. Mark was very willing to add on a couple "side" jobs that were in need of attention in our home but not necessarily in the scope of the remodel. These were projects we did not have the know-how/skill set to do, and we really appreciated his willingness to include these smaller "side" jobs within the project. Mary excels in design and took the time to truly understand and implement our vision. She was patient and accompanied us throughout the selection process whether it was visiting local vendors or reviewing items online. Upon completion the home was left cleaner than they found it. An exceptional overall experience. We would hire mackmiller design+build for any future projects and recommend them without reservation.

We recently completed a remodel of our entire home with mackmiller design+build after meeting Mark & Mary on the 2020 Luxury Home Tour. It was worth the money. The mackmiller's listened to discover desired outcomes and then delivered results exceeding expectations at a fair price. It was a positive experience from meticulous job site preparation through to professional cleaning upon completion of the project. The mackmiller's partner with high caliber contractors who despite the pandemic adhered to the schedule and reliably completed their work. We would highly recommend mackmiller design+build for their consultative interior design and construction management services.

When a broken built-in microwave prompted an unplanned kitchen remodel, we didn't hesitate to call Mark and Mary again. Mary met patiently with us to find the perfect granite slab to replace the island that was functional, but never our favorite. They respect our desire to reuse and recycle what we can--they found a team that could remove and use the old granite--and to suit our style rather than the latest trends. Our family loves to cook, relax and entertain in our new space. Mark was thoughtful and practical in his recommendations for new rollouts in the cabinets, an induction cooktop, and extending the island to improve conversation. They remembered our preferences from our bathroom remodel a few years ago, and are part of our community. You cannot replicate that personal touch. Mackmiller design was flexible with pandemic issues such as supply chain and safety without compromising the project. I trust them and their team, and we will definitely contact them for our next remodel or refresh, large or small.

We recently completed our second major project with MacMiller Design and are delighted with the results. The “Design” in MacMiller Design is important to us as is their flexibility to adapt as a plan takes shape and inevitable changes arise. Our project involved making our kitchen more of a part of the living area than it had been when the house was built. This meant changing walls, repositioning lights, moving appliances and harmonizing the whole area with new wood flooring. All of this was done despite a challenging architecture that had many odd angles and several obsolete storage areas. Countertops and a large eating area were done in a unique quartzite that we had discovered in an earlier MacMiller bathroom project. That bathroom, which won several awards for the MacMillers in 2019, still creates a wonderful feeling of warmth and permanence every time we use it. With the MacMillers you get complete project management along with suggestions and contacts that can help with everything from reupholstering to unique glass art wall designs. We are already looking forward to a third project to challenge their skills in the near future! Bryce and Paula Johnson

We had a wonderful experience with Mackmiller Design+Build on the remodel of our primary bathroom, family room remodel, kitchen backsplash and entire house refresh. The project touched almost every room in the house, with some unique challenges in the primary bathroom remodel. From our initial meeting through the project completion, Mark and Mary consistently demonstrated their dedication to ensuring that they would deliver on our vision. Between Mark's wide range of skills and passion for his work, to Mary's highly tuned design sense, they make a fantastic team. As can be expected with any project, issues did come up and Mark was able to get them addressed, quickly and fairly We couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product and thoroughly enjoyed working with Mark and Mary. They were on top of it throughout the project and very communicative. The entire project was complete on the projected deadline. After the project was completed, Mary remained engaged to assist in choosing new artwork and accessories to coordinate with remodel. Not only was it great to be able to leverage her design skills, but she did that extra work as a professional courtesy. Overall, we were pleased with our remodeling experience. We learned of Mackmiller through a referral and would recommend them to friends, family, or anybody else that is looking for a dependable, trustworthy, customer centric design+build firm.

We are so pleased with the design and implementation that Mark provided for our kitchen and dining room remodel. Mary’s help in selecting colors and materials made that part of the process so much easier. In addition to the quality of the work, one of the best parts of the experience is how easy it was to speak with them. For example, Mark listened to what our needs were in the remodeling. He came up with a design that fit those needs. When we had questions, he continued to listen and answer them. Mary’s suggestions brought wonderful life to the overall design. We are loving the look and how our new space functions!

We were very happy with the work Mark and Mary did on our kitchen. We live in 1929 Minneapolis home and have a pretty small kitchen space. They did a great job helping us maximize the space we have, and went above-and-beyond to handle the weird quirks you're going to find when you start remodeling an old house like this.

Mark is a NARI Master Certified Remodeler (MCR), the highest level of certification and only one of four in the state to achieve this status. In addition to having top notch experience Mackmiller Design and Build listens, assesses the desires, and outlines the most appropriate paths for solution. Mark and Mary have coordinated several home remodel projects for us (1) kitchen redesign, (2) installation of hardwood floors throughout the carpeted areas, (3) updated painting through the entire interior, (4) a major garage upgrade from floor to ceiling. The most recent upgrade was to make our home accessible for Senior Mobility. Mark has great knowledge and understanding of how to make a home safe and accessible for individuals with physical limitations, and added grab bars, raised toilet seats, raised platforms for getting out of reading chairs, and ramps to the garage, three season porch, and deck. Mark also fabricated a structure to allow easier access to our Jeep with slightly higher frame. Mark studies, understands industry requirements, and has the technical ability and to make ideas a reality. Mackmiller Design and Build does quality work, provides a positive experience, partners with high quality, trustworthy plumbers, electricians, and trades. Mark and Mary represent their clients first. When it comes to home care, McMillan design and build is our first choice doing all renovations in our home.

Remodeling our bathroom was something we had planned for many years, but we were waiting for the right time and the right contractor. Fortunately for us, the two coincided in February of 2019. We engaged Mackmiller Design + Build and they began the project in late February. We needed to have the project completed by May, so it was necessary for them to work through our planned 3 week vacation in March. It worked wonderfully! Both Mark and Mary were very responsive by email and telephone, and we had a high comfort level that they would be trustworthy to work without us there. We were also impressed with the quality work done by their subcontractors, and in particular, the tiling contractor. Since most of the surface of the bathroom is tiled, it was imperative that it be done right, and it was! While there were not many issues that needed to be fixed, when there was a problem, it was addressed quickly and resolved satisfactorily. We are absolutely delighted with the finished product! It has won two 2019 NARI-MN Gold Coty Awards and was featured in the 2019 Spaces Magazine Kitchen and Bath issue. We can definitely recommend Mackmiller Design + Build, and will look to them when we have another remodeling project.
