We did have a drapery treatment for Ms. Gillis where the fabric had stretched excessively.
We did replace that drapery at no charge to her.
When we left the job, she told us she was completely happy with all that we had done...
This is the first I have heard that she has an issue on an upholstered piece, and I have reached out to her to find out how we can help.
We are often hired to select the products going into a commercial or home setting so that the overall color scheme flows appropriately. We do charge for this service by an hourly fee. We also make recommendations for the appropriate products and finishes for the integrity of the space. Often what is right for a commercial setting is not right for a home. We do our best to explain why these choices are suggested. When our price structure is questioned, we work with our sales reps to be as competitive as we can possibly be.
When Mrs. Johnson called me about the wallpaper pricing, (approximately 80 days after purchase) I personally called 3 other design studios to make certain our price was fair. I found one price at 35% higher, one @ 25%higher, and one at only 10cents a yard less.
I also would have been happy to have accepted Mrs. Johnson's wallpaper return, however, there is not a manufacturer who allows returns on wallpaper after 60 days. This is printed in every wallpaper book sent out by the manufacturer. Sadly, we did make every attempt to get an exception for Mrs Johnson, but we simply couldn't. I know she was unhappy about this, and I totally understood her feeling. I have learned to be more diligent about explaining this policy, and paperhangers are responsible for letting their clients know about any overages as soon as the job is complete.
I appreciate Mrs. Johnson's positive comment on our design skills. I know the contractor was pleased with the overall project, and said it looked fantastic.
