I highly recommend Karen as an interior designer. She is very professional, and has a great ability to select fabrics and designs that reflect her client's personality and tastes. I am pleased with all the exquisite fabrics she selected for reupholstering my couches and chairs. She helped transform my furniture from an old outdated design to a new and fresh appearance!

When looking for someone to help us with the remodel of our 30 year old kitchen and master bath it was not difficult to choose Karen Ellentuck for the job. We had met Karen through a professional group and had been impressed with her expertise and success in the industry making her the obvious right choice. From the moment we started working on the project Karen’s professionalism and attention to detail was appreciated. I have not had the experience of working with an interior designer and was a bit nervous but I was immediately put at ease by Karen and her interest and understanding of what we were looking for in our project. She’s listened and responded to our budget concerns, clearly set out a plan that would work with us and our time line. I especially appreciate that after Karen’s first visit to our home she tuned in to my personality and things that I love and transferred that into choices she suggested for our remodel. For someone to be able to recognize these small but important things is remarkable. On a larger scale she helped us make choices that would update our home and knew what choices would be the best for today’s needs and market. The result will be a home that won’t just be perfect for us but also for whom ever lives here in the future. We have just completed the planning stages and my husband a I are thrilled with the design and the plan she has set in place for us. We recommend Karen Ellentuck without reservation. We had a wonderful experience working with her. She developed a bathroom, bedroom and hallway design that melded our need to stay true to the style of our 1930s house alongside our need for more storage and some big extras (like a steam shower!) She seamlessly incorporated into the design a 100-year-old buffet -- transforming it into a sink vanity -- and a refinished clawfoot tub. Our upstairs is now our little oasis. We met with her regularly to plan the layout and design and also to choose fixtures, colors and finishes. She was easily reachable for questions from our contractors and provided an in-home consult several times. She came up with solutions fast, which eased any dilemma we might have had otherwise. Karen is so talented, and we will definitely work with her again.

Karen is a master designer with a wealth of knowledge. She did an excellent job understanding my desired outcome and delivered an exceptional design and beautiful finishes. She followed through on time and per agreed upon ideas. She followed the project through to the end, providing guidance to the contractors as the work progressed. We are thrilled with the classic look she developed and have a much more functional kitchen and great room.

Karen Ellentuck designed our new gym, wine cellar and home office; helped us select paint colors for our entire home; and helped us select area rugs and furniture for various rooms in our home. We couldn’t be more pleased with her work. She has a great eye and she is extremely knowledgeable and skilled at what she does. She took the time to understand our desired aesthetic and provided us with lots of options, which enabled us to get exactly what we wanted. Very detailed and precise in her drawing/design. Spent a great deal of time working with us to get the design within our budget and prepared so contractors knew exactly what they were bidding on.

We bought a house with a weird layout and a hideous bathroom that we didn't know what to do with. Fortunately Karen was able to design a space that made sense and beautiful bathrooms and kitchen. She really listened to what we wanted and designed something for our taste and budget. Karen also made suggestions for designs slightly outside of our comfort zone that turned out super well (eg a patterned kitchen floor). I really enjoyed going through the design process with her!

My husband and I saw Karen's work online. We fell in love with a vanity she designed and contacted her to create one for us. We spoke with Karen and communicated through email. Karen coordinated the build and door to door shipment of the vanity. We could not be happier with the finished product.

I hired Karen to update my condo in Ballard. She was able to take the feeling I was after and translate into a beautiful and coordinated design. The results were stunning with a restful and beautiful bedroom, elegant yet comfortable living room and work area with built in desk and cabinets that seamlessly flows into the existing area. Karen was our interior designer for an extensive home remodeling project several years ago. I highly recommend her services. Karen helped us make choices that we continue to love today - years later. She balanced creative design, quality and cost very effectively. She helped us achieve the precise design aesthetic we were looking for - contemporary and elegant( but not fancy), using colors and materials with the feeling of nature and the Pacific Northwest. Further, Karen was highly responsive and worked very effectively with our contractors. We get lots of compliments from visitors to our home and many have asked for Karen's contact information. Years later, we continue as Karen's clients - seeking her help when we need to add a piece, update something, or make a change. I wouldn't even think of doing something in our home without consulting Karen.

We had a new house built for our retirement, and because we were moving from a 100 year old bungalow to a new, more open floor plan, a lot of our furniture would not physically fit in the new space. Although we are pretty incurable DIY people, who know what we like, we were somewhat stymied by some of the design aspects for the new space, so we decided we needed help. We searched Houzz for Seattle designers, and decided that we would like to work with Karen, based on some of the images we saw and on the clarity of the “scope of work” type arrangement she described on her web site. We described our needs and tastes, and got a furniture layout and some specific recommendations for pieces we would not have known about or found on our own. We visited the NW Design Center twice and worked with Karen to pick out some things we really liked. I have no doubt that without Karen’s assistance, knowledge, and contacts, we would still have bare windows, would still be debating rug selections (or would have gotten one too small for the space), would have an odd empty corner in the living room, and a sofa that merely "close" to what we wanted. We are really happy with the help we got and it is all the more impressive that she did this project without setting foot in the house, which was 90 miles and a ferry ride away.

Karen is a joy to work with. She has helped me with a bath remodel, a basement remodel and updating my furniture. Her work has created a very enjoyable place for me and my family.
