Dave Bier is the person you hire when you want to transform your outdoor space into a magical paradise. He is affordable, reliable, responsive to emails/text and a really fun person to work with. It was a seamless process from beginning to end. His knowledge base is vast and he works well with other trades. Super creative and has great relationships with his subs which was evident in the quality of the work and end product.

David Bier came highly recommended to me when I was restoring a Walter Frazier home facing the water in Lake Forest. It was an ecologically complex project involving acres of old growth landscaping and a secure high bluff that led down to a long private beach. His vast knowledge, professionalism and intricate eye to detail amazed me. Not only does he use "best practices" in everything he sets his hand to, but he approaches every question from the most naturalistic point of view. He carefully considerers the available possibilities and always selects the one that would best suit the particular situation. HIs advice was never wrong in my experience. He is creative in his approach and a delight to work with personally. Once back in the office, he works tirelessly to make the most intricately detailed data sets and designs you could ever imagine. His ability to clearly explain all the designs and data is another wonderful facet he brings to a project. Another important, and often overlooked, characteristic of Dave is his meticulousness when it comes to invoicing. My account swears she has never met his equal in clarity and conciseness- a real bonus that is rare to find in any industry. I will admit also that I am glad to continue to call Dave a friend long after our project ended. I wish I could lure him out to the West Coast... so does my accountant! Everyone involved with the project loved Dave and still ask me about him to this day- he's that kind of guy...

As a fellow landscape architect, I have known and worked with David for decades on a variety of jobs ranging from private residence design to assessing and documenting a 90 square-mile watershed for potential open space preservation opportunities. David has always exhibited the highest professional standards in his approach to and execution of projects. His methodical and thorough analysis of each job is impressive, and his design ideas are both practical and elegant. He is also excellent with people ranging from the client (of course!) to the many other trades that must mesh into his work as it is executed --- and his low-key, thoughtful manner wins the respect of these persons every time. David Bier of Futurity was and is exceptional. I have worked with him on three projects; the last began late April of this year and currently ongoing. Our first project was our side yard: the design of a rose garden and crushed bluestone pathway with ivy covered 8' trellises on both sides of the path; both areas are stunning! The second project was the design and supervision of basalt paver installation for our exterior building entry area. Lastly, and currently, David designed a pergola and architectural columns as a focal point at end end of the crushed bluestone pathway. I can not stress enough how talented, knowledgeable, adaptable, professional, and respectful David is. I expect a landscape architect to be talented and knowledgeable. Yet, expertise does not necessarily imply adaptability nor respect. Often, professionals have their vision of your project. The project then becomes "theirs not yours-" not with David! No one will ever design another inch of soul on our property! I cannot more highly recommend David Bier; you will not be disappointed.

David Bier is professional, knowledgeable, creative, and flexible. He brought a vision to our landscape design, and oversaw its execution with expertise. He has a calm demeanor and was not thrown by our budgeting needs, occasional requests for modifications, or unexpected crew/construction complications. Phase two of our landscape project was completed this past summer.... and we are beyond thrilled. We now have a beautiful, functional, and long lasting brick walk and fire pit. Note that it seamlessly adjoins the patio installed by Futurity a year earlier. The new path frames our yard in ways I couldn't have imagined... and makes a striking impact throughout the entire area. The natural rock fire pit is a unique and well used addition. David and his team are top notch. They have great vision & wonderful ideas. I found Futurity was very open to trying new approaches, yet happy to scale back when needed.

David Bier exceeded our expectations in creating a naturalistic landscape plan for our home in the Chicago north shore area. Part of our property is under conservancy, so it is essential to work with someone who has extensive knowledge of native plant materials. David combines that knowledge with strong design skills and practical solutions to challenges. He also provided hands-on supervision as installation proceeded to ensure that execution of the plan was proper and pleasing. Add to that, he is quite pleasant to work with. We will be using his services again in spring of 2016.
