I'm thinking the windows in my breakfast room look bare. Should I add a straight valance on a decorative rod (nothing frilly) or would that look cheesy? Our valances out? I thought about adding curtains but the window & door are very close together. I'm worried that creates a problem. Or should I just leave them alone?

Walls will be painted a darker neutral shade in 6+ months. I can move the plates above the window up or remove all together. Another thing to consider is I want to see out the window as much as possible during the day without to much being blocked. However, the window faces west so I need to close it up at the end of the day.
