So happy to know this about bamboo. We have birch flooring now and it has gouges and dents and dings, so I will replace it with something more durable when it's time.

Regular bamboo vertical or horizontal , natural or carbonized made out of bamboo pieces laminated together . It may work but usually it is easy to scratch and damage. Refinishing possible but it is hard process and refinishing of coarse did not increase hardness , Vertical grain usually harder than horizontal , natural harder than carbonized . Harness very depended from different factors including harvesting seasons etc.
Strand bamboo is different story . It made by pressing crashed bamboo fiber with resin. Harness of strand bamboo usually vary from 3000 psi to 3500 psi , for example hardness of Red Oak something around 1300 psi . Harness of real concrete starting from $3000 psi. The key factors here type of adhesives used during manufacture process. More advanced product made with acrylic type of adhesives ( very resistant to water ) , cheap product usually made with urea formaldehyde type adhesives . That product is not water resistant and may emit sufficient amount of free formaldehyde which is health hazard . Despite hardness of strand bamboo is never a problem but type of adhesives used makes very big difference for water resistance .

Solid or engineered. Stand bamboo available in both solid and engineered.
Because it is very unlikely somebody will try to refinish strand bamboo and solid strand bamboo cost more and harder to install i may recommend to give preference to engineered product . Properly installed engineered product will perform the same way as solid .
Cost average cost around $ 3.5 per sq. feet and about $ 2 to install . Of coarse everything depended from area. Good way to check quality . Put sample in bucket with water for couple hours . If good quality strand almost nothing happened if it made with urea formaldehyde glue it most possible delaminate.

I am not selling materials , i am disinteresting person , sometimes we do install , my business is cabinets . The same time i used to do HW Floors for about 20 years .

If your bamboo floors made out of regular bamboo and it is has a lot of damages

It may be cheaper and better to replace rather than try to refinish .

Refinishing of bamboo is challenging and because wood is soft ( regular not strand ) the damages may happen again , it is simply matter of time .
Refinishing existing bamboo floors may easily cost around $3.5 per sq. feet . But new engineering strand bamboo may cost around $5- $6 per sq feet ( materials and install ) .
