For the front door color, Lowe's and Home Depot say they only carry Sunrise Red in Enamel, their only latex paints in red are Colonial Red or Apple Red. Would one of these work to mix with Real Red?

  • PRO
    Rachel Greathouse

Hi there! I would just experiment with some combinations until you get the one you like best...I'm not familiar with those colors so can't answer say for sure:) Good Luck!

What colour paint is this front door

  • Terry Royce
Rachel - I love the deep red color, I am wondering if the Rustoleum made the Sherwin Williams brighter, or gave it the more deep red color.

    Thanks!
  • PRO
    Rachel Greathouse
Terry- Thank you... I do think the Rustoleum product added some punch to it....I just started mixing until I got the red I liked:)

I bought them like that:) In spring most home Improvement stores carry them for a few weeks....I trim them to keep the shape but very low maintenance in general.

Hi I really love this door, you have great taste! I live in the UK and am having a door made very much like this. Can you tell me where the ironmongery you used is from - is this also from Lowes? I am having trouble finding something like those in your fab photo. Thank you in advance Tom

I thought about painting it red but it's a really pretty wood that works with my interior staircase wood and floor so kept it wood....If the red would work with your interior you should go for it is always fun!

Oh my goodness I didn't see this! It is a real wood door....the brand of paint I mixed with the exterior was a Rustoleum product that also could be used on wood:) Thank you so much!

- Can you tell me who makes them?

  • PRO

The lights are a Lowes purchase....They have a great selection that look like this style however I don't know the brand off hand...They are very reasonable and durable:)

I see you used Sunrise Red, here in Canada we have Regal Red is it the same colour just renamed? Also, the Rustoleum is an oil based paint - if you mixed this with the Sherwin Williams did it not have to be an oil based paint too because you can't mix oil with latex right?
  • PRO
    Rachel Greathouse
Not sure if Regal Red is renamed?..... and actually Rustoleum comes in a variety of options-- we used a latex that was off the shelf pre mixed. Good Luck:)

I'm from HomeStory Doors in Orange County, and we service Orange County, San Diego County and Riverside County. We provide all types of interior doors, closet doors and exterior doors, including the barn style doors. We do free in home estimates. We also use a special laser technology to measure the doors, and factory paint from Sherwin Williams. We can have the door ready for installment in 3-5 weeks. If interested, please call us at 949-269-8400.

thanks a bunch, spring it is! At the moment my hardwood door is sitting in the garage is that okay till the springtime? this is my house, I'm taking the original shutters down and replacing them with the ones in the picture but black. What do you think Rachel? Do you any ideas for me to spruce up the outside of the house. I wish I could replace the siding, but not in our budget right now.
