Hi! I've been searching for months for the "right" flooring. This is lovely! I have a different sample from Navarre at my home. Is "Montauban" the distressed white oak? Or did you do something additional to the floor? Thank you SO much!

  • PRO
    Heydt Designs

Yes "Montauban" is the distressed white oak and we did not do anything special to it. It's a beautiful product, just remember to use the oil soap on it regularly! (Sorry jmaurry above- I didn't see your question until just now. Hope you got it answered!)

I love the wood floors in the kitchen but how do they hold up?

  • PRO
    Heydt Designs
They've held up extremely well! Firstly, because they are an engineered product with a factory applied finish, and secondly because the nature of the wood is rustic which hides wear and imperfections.

Sorry for the delay in response. It's Calacatta Oro Marble, similar to Carrera, but at a higher price point. It's less speckled than Carerra and more vieny. The Oro refers to the fact that it has some gold coloring as well. Hope that helps!

This is a longstanding debate. Every client I've had with white marble in a kitchen loves it, but they do say that you have to watch it with red wine and lemon juice particularly. Still these things just add to the patina though, so people love it regardless. One point to consider is that countless cafes and restaurants use this material and have for centuries across Europe. In those environments, the material really gets heavily used and yet it is still a popular choice for restaurants, bars, and cafes. Best of luck to you!

I wanted to add to this comment. Apparently the floors have not been oiled consistently, and with this product, regular cleaning with the oil soap protects the floors. The flooring rep told me if the floors are cleaned regularly with the oil soap, they should hold up fine, even in a high traffic area.

What is the ceiling height? I would like to do this same light over our island... RH is suggesting we do the small version which is 18" vs 24" since the large will hang down about 3.5ft and our ceiling is 9ft, so may seem to low and large.... But I think this light looks perfect for this kitchen!!

What are the dimensions of the aisle widths? Thank you -- just lovely!

  • minnienevada
Thank you for answering my question, and so quickly! 33" seems so narrow. Is it because the person at the sink can swing around more easily to utilize the island? I've always understood 42"+ to be the standard aisle width but I like a tighter aisle, too.
  • PRO
    Heydt Designs
If we had the space we would have gone for 36", but it doesn't feel too narrow when you are using it. As you pointed out, it is easier to pivot to the island with a smaller distance.
