This replacement dwelling at Tregoose, Polzeath is a two-storey, detached, four bedroom house with open plan reception space on the ground floor and bedrooms on the lower level.
Sympathetic to its context and neighbouring buildings, the split-level accommodation has been designed to maximise stunning coastal and ocean views from the property. The living and dining areas on the ground floor benefit from a large, full-height gable window and a glazed balcony oriented to take advantage of the views whilst still maintaining privacy for neighbouring properties.
The house features engineered oak flooring and a bespoke oak staircase with glazed balustrades. Skylights ensure the house is extremely well lit and roof-mounted solar panels produce hot water, with an airsource heat pump connected to underfloor heating.
Close proximity to the popular surfing beach at Polzeath is reflected in the outdoor shower and large, copper-tiled wet room with giant walk-in shower and bespoke wetsuit drying rack.

This four bedroom home is designed to take full advantage of its coastal location, which boasts magnificent views to the north and west, overlooking Hayle Bay and the beach.
The house is a contemporary interpretation of the Cornish vernacular, with the aim to to create a seaside family home with a relaxed and informal character.
The varied exterior form is reflected internally, each space distinctively different in volume and scale, interconnected in a flowing sequence of spaces to create an interesting and vibrant home.
The Bazeley Partnership
A development of four new cottage-style homes at Church Mews Hartland, Devon.
The site lies within a Conservation Area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Our brief was to create homes that were designed to be sympathetic to the location, using traditional stone and slate materials with a high quality finish. These homes are also contemporary and sustainable, having a very small carbon footprint.
The Bazeley Partnership
A new, sustainable, timber-framed, traditional-style family cottage constructed using natural and recycled materials.
Built on an infill site in a North Cornwall village, the three bedroom house and garage were constructed using reclaimed stone, natural Cornish slate and a green-oak timber frame.
Our client’s brief was to create a family home with living accommodation on the first floor, in order to enjoy the full benefit of the views of the surrounding countryside. Integral to the brief was the desire to explore sustainable and environmentally considerate design methods and technologies suitable for this location.
Internally, the exposed oak frames and a traditional stone fireplace in the Cornish Cottage vernacular create warm and engaging spaces, whilst vaulted ceilings and rooflights promote a sense of light and air.
Externally, oak boarding and natural stone help to integrate the new house and adjacent garage with the surrounding rural landscape.

The Bazeley Partnership
A major remodelling of this Cornish house turned a thermally inefficient 1970s property into a stunning, contemporary family home fit for modern living.
Our design brief involved creating a new two-storey extension to add bedroom and dining space, as well as maximising panoramic coastal views from the rear of the property and creating a blend of outdoor and indoor rooms.
Internally, the spacious and light interior reflects a contemporary home and features a new staircase with frameless glass balustrades, and engineered oak flooring throughout. Revealed wood beams are set against a white interior which, along with the wood burner, add traditional touches to the home, juxtaposing the old and the new.
