People are such poor hangers of pictures, this article is a good start. It drives me crazy to see things hung asymmetrically or too high. My mother, an art school graduate and an art collector, could have hired herself out as a professional picture hanger. My sister and I, even living across the country, would have her help us hang pictures. She was very methodical and she did follow the technique for putting a group on the floor and then measuring. Now that she is gone, I did hire someone from a framing store to help me hang as I dreaded hanging all the art I had. They did it in two hours. I am about to do a wall of the small stuff plus photos ( a great photo of my grandfather with his fraternity brothers all in spats!) in a guest bedroom. This article is giving me lots of ideas.

I find it helps a lot to first put all the pictures on the floor and play with them... measure. Though it's still not foolproof. It always takes me a while to get it right. I find it's important to try and keep the spacing the same, or as much as possible. But I do love my picture walls, they really give me joy. I even have pics in the powder room. I wonder if it's something that exists - a professional picture hanger :). Might be a fun job
