The doors are made by Williams Somerville, a custom wood/ door shop in New York City. You could ask them about the picture.

This is the homeowner: The posting above refers to Circa lighting which iis a good source, but this lantern over the stairs is actually from Currey and Company lighting. It is the Grayson lantern, large size. I might have changed the finish to a a slightly darker color (slight upcharge) like old iron or dark bronze, but I'm not sure, or it might be ok left as is in French Black. The glass is beautiful on it.

Can you please tell me what height you hung the large chandelier?

Ceilings are 9'-0" on both floors. Can not remember anything about the light fixture.

I love the stain color on the railing but would not like to go as dark with the floor since there is a walnut border that I would like to show. Will it look right with darker railing and lighter stain on the floor?

There are thousands of beautiful old homes with solid flowing stair cases...we'd suggest getting some other professional opinions. It might cost you more to get what you want but it should be possible.

For future reference...what color is the most popular question by far on houzz.

It is not necessary to wait for the answer from me as I am certain that you could find this if you toggle through the questions asked about the image.

I also wrote a blog...as it is very dangerous to go about painting a room based on what you see on your screen. I am passing on the link again for your reference. http://clawsonarchitects.blogspot.com/2012/08/what-color-is-that-how-to-select.html

and because no one is ever satisfied until I cough it up...as if I am hiding some type of industry secret....

The color of the foyer is 927 Benjamin Moore. All trim is Atrium White Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo. The ceilings are 50 percent atrium white and 50 percent flat white mixed.

(this answer has been copied from the questions asked about this image in Sept of 2016)

so the floors are strips of oak and the railing is one piece so it is solid and takes stain differently. It is a darker stain than the floor.
