Sure. The doors were made here in Atlanta by a guy named Thomas Stoudenmire. He is still in business. His cell is 404.849.0309.

Nicely done Gary! Love the fireplace. What can you tell me about the stone? Veneer?
  • PRO
    Dresser Homes
The stone was a mixture of 3 or 4 different stones. I came up with the mixture in collaboration with the architect, David Fowler. I wish I could remember more details but I really don't. The stone was sourced from Fieldstone Center here in Atlanta. There are exterior pictures of this house which show it more clearly. If you really wanted to find out the mixture, I suspect a salesperson of a stone supplier could figure it out.

The stone is a blend of 4 or 5 stones. It was specified by the architect and I really cannot remember what the types of stones were. I do know they came from the Fieldstone Center here in the Atlanta area.

    Thanks for the complement!

Thank you Gary. My daughter is presently studying in Savannah and I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Perhaps I can get her to pack a few stones in her suitcase each time she flys home ;-) So very beautiful!

It is my understanding you cannot paint vinyl windows. I would consult with your local professional at Sherwin Williams or another similar paint supplier about whether they have a product which will adhere to vinyl. Good luck!

I'm not sure I understand the question . . . is the face of the fireplace simply two stories of brick? Is there a mantel shelf of some sort? A raised hearth? What style is the home?

Can you post a photo so we can see what you're working with?

Here are some corner fireplace room design links that I especially liked. Might give you ideas for furniture placement and get ideas for the decors depending on the color of your furniture and the style. The most important first step is arranging the furniture to your satisfaction.

That's a tough question to answer. It really depends on several factors like geographic region, level of finish, site conditions of the existing house, and so forth. In Atlanta, a high end room like this would probably run between $150 - $200 per square foot. The room is about 576 sf, so you would be in the range of $86k - $115k. Of course you could do it much less expensively with different finishes. This room has custom mahogany doors, hand-scraped walnut floors, 10' ceilings, heaving moldings, and so on. Hope this helps.

Yes, all the interior doors are painted Gettysburg Grey. On the trim, it is all Gettysburg Grey on the Main Level but we switched to an off white upstairs. The kitchen cabinets are also that color, but with a higher level finish than the trim in the rest of the house.
