I love this idea and this particular paper! Anyone know of a way to protect paper from daily scuffs, dings etc. w/ two little boys and a dog in the house? Is there a coating of something I could put on it and not ruin the paper?

I want to achieve this silver ageing effect on our staircase and handrail. Can anyone suggest the best wood we use to build it with, and how to achieve this colour without it chipping?

Hello! This is not coated in any primer or sealant; it's installed like regular wallpaper. If you're concerned about durability, you could use a vinyl wallpaper which is more durable than paper based and can be wiped clean with a damp sponge.

We would probably suggest the black/white version with natural wood steps over this taupe/white. Yes, one roll is 11 yards long and should easily cover standard steps. We can provide wallpaper samples for you to see in your space before purchasing a roll as well. Just give our studio a call at 503-327-8065 to request samples!

Go up the stairs. Papering the stair risers adds a surprise element and makes a cool, modern alternative to a runner. It’s also a stylish way to utilize any remnants from paper you may have used elsewhere. Think about how your chosen print will look from the bottom of your staircase, and how it will tie in with your wall paint and flooring. A subdued print like the one here provides a dash of pattern without being too busy.Wallpaper: Woods, Vanillawood

Alternately (and as an easier DIY), cut your paper into strips and apply it to the risers of a staircase. This works especially well with vertical patterns, such as these branches that appear to stretch up to the next floor.

    7. Introduce wallpaper and paint to highlight architecture. Stair treads and risers are often overlooked as design elements. These wallpapered risers add interest to a steep set of stairs.

Neat visual effect. I love the trees but also note that verticals patterns, in general, work well in this application.
