    I have a 7 1/2 ft island...and 8 inch pendants. Do you recommend 2 or 3 pendants? Thank you!
  • jb13039

Beautiful kitchen! Need pendant help as well... 90 inch island with 10 foot ceilings. Would you recommend two 13" or 16" Benson pendants. Thanks so much!

The choice to use 2 or 3 pendants typically depends upon how wide your pendants are and whether or not you want them to be the focal point of the room. Without knowing the details of your kitchen, we recommended two because it would likely make your space feel light and airy, like the kitchen pictured.

Linda - Thanks again for your help with sizing. The moulding turned out beautifully. The scale is perfect and we receive lots of compliments.

Marble will stain, scratch, and etch if exposed to acidic materials, although it will etch less if honed. Even with that, spills need to be cleaned up quickly. It's really a personal preference and what you are most comfortable with.

I'm loving the Benson pendents. I have a kitchen island 3mtrs x 1.2mtrs. What size pendents do you recommend? Our kitchen and lounge area is open plan.

3 13" Benson pendants for this size island would be good.

Hi Linda, I am set on the Grovenor Pendants which are 15" and have 9.5 ft wide island. would you recommend 2 or 3? or just a bigger size pendant
  • PRO
Linda McDougald Design | Postcard from Paris Home
Because they are weighty pendants with a lot of mass, we would recommend only a pair of them. Hang them about 36” above the counter top.

I love the pendants as well! How many and what size would you suggest for a 130" x 48" island? Thanks for your help!
  • joshua2002
I took Linda's advice and got 2 13" pendants. Ours are installed and I am soooo happy with them. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks, I am remodeling a kitchen and it is very similar to this. I have purchased these Benson pendants as well as the Rohl faucets all in polished nickel but have been warned about polished nickel knobs and pulls because we have 3 boys. Have you run into issues with polished nickel knobs and pulls tarnishing easily or marking easily? Would you ever mix pewter hardware with polished nickel faucets and light fixtures? Your work is beautiful!
  • PRO
Linda McDougald Design | Postcard from Paris Home
I haven’t had any complaints from clients about the polished nickel finish tarnishing. However, any polished surface will show fingerprints easier than a matte finish. There are instances I would mix pewter and polished nickel but I wouldn’t do that in a kitchen like this. One of the elements that makes this kitchen attractive is the simplicity of the design, which hinges on keeping the number of finishes to a minimum.

    Thank you!

There are many variations of carrara marble. This article might help you when selecting carrara marble in the future.

I will second Linda the variation start from very greyish white carrara marble all the way up to Whitish carrara with some grey in it. The more white the Carrara marble is the higher it is in value, the price also depends on the selection.

Restoration Hardware polished nickel was used for the cabinet hardware. It is becoming more widely acceptable to mix finishes, but it depends on the look you want. If you want everything to be slightly matte and muted, I would go with a satin finish, but if you want a shiny, polished look I would go with the polished.

Love this kitchen! Would you ever consider using chrome on the hardware and faucets in this kitchen, keeping the pendants and appliances the way they are?
