Photo shows the interior of the Japanese Tea House. The four skylights have hand carved overlay screens. The open ceiling shows the beauty of the design. TJC completed a Paul Devon Raso remodel of the entire interior and a reading room addition to this well cared for, but dated home. The reading room was built to blend with the existing exterior by matching the cedar shake roofing, brick veneer, and wood windows and exterior doors. Lovely and timeless interior finishes created seamless transitions from room to room. In the reading room, limestone tile floors anchored the stained white oak paneling and cabinetry. New custom cabinetry was installed in the kitchen, den, and bathrooms and tied in with new molding details such as crown, wainscoting, and box beams. Hardwood floors and painting were completed throughout the house. Carrera marble counters and beautiful tile selections provided a rare elegance which brought the house up to it’s fullest potential.

Study room - contemporary built-in desk dark wood floor study room idea in New York with blue walls

The meandering service drive, made of rustic antique pavers, is more of a garden path than drive. Mature Norway Spruce and Dense Yews along with sweeping bands of perennials and groundcovers thrive in the 10 – 12” deep imported soil mix. An elevated tennis court is accented by lush gardens.

This walnut kitchen was built in collaboration with Union Studio for a discerning couple in Mill Valley. The hand-hewned cabinetry and custom steel pulls complement the exposed brick retained from original structure's former life as the Carnegie Library in Mill Valley. Location: Bethesda, MD, USA We demolished an existing house that was built in the mid-1900s and built this house in its place. Everything about this new house is top-notch - from the materials used to the craftsmanship. The existing house was about 1600 sf. This new house is over 5000 sf. DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". First, Tharp layered in architectural details, including custom cabinetry and a window seat to frame the view. Linen draperies reinforce 10' ceilings, while silk roman shades soften the triple window. Slipcovered sofa and rattan chairs anchor the seating area. Reclaimed teak low table acts as foundation for old french chimney piece that Lisa discovered in an antique shop. Driftwood quatrefoil side tables host glazed and linen lamps. Lisa repurposed a vintage glass pie display as unique side table and gave Teri Malo's "Poem for a Nauset Afternoon" oil painting pride of place over the sofa. Photo by Eric Roth.
