We are trying to infuse some charm in our nice but rather boring suburban house. I lean towards cottage/farmhouse style even though we are in Colorado and everything is mountain lodge.. Off white stucco fireplace/mantle-in-one is very bland and I want to do something, probably switch out tile surround and add a chunky reclaimed wood mantle. Thoughts on what kind of tile? The obvious choice for fireplace is stacked stone but that seems too obvious. Or possibly just replace mantle and paint the fireplace wall an accent color? The color of room and adjoining kitchen is off white which I'd like to change. The curtains will b a red and white ikat -- or possibly green and white ikat,, whichever looks best with gold couches and red/green/gold rug
