I can't answer regarding this photo, but we've used Ventahood's liner inserts for custom hoods in similar situations

The venting here is in the ceiling. The owner opted to go for more cabinet space and preserve the clean lines foregoing a dedicated hood. There are downdraft ventilated ranges if you have room for a standard 30" or larger unit or there are the inserts mentioned by the previous commenter, though you lose the cabinet space. Hope that helps!
