use of area rugs

a large room divided in half by back-to-back couches--one end faces fireplace---the other end is used for dining room area. new wood flooring installed. want to put down area rugs on both halves of room. do they need to match?

Photos of the room would be helpful. The rugs should be related either through pattern, color, or material.

but generally u don't need to have rug in a dining aria
