Hard to tell from a picture, but I was looking at soapstone and limestone yesterday, and the soapstone had a similar striation. I thought it was always more solid, but the one I saw looked like this. If there is granite that looks like this, I'd love the name too, b/c the soapstone was 1700 more than black honed granite.
