The rafters beams in this photo are 4"x6". We also frequently use 6"x8" when the space is larger. Above the rafters are 2"x6" T&G.

We usually use white pine and stain it to our clients desired color as we did for this home. For heavier load requirements we will use yellow pine as it can provide greater support when weight is an issue.
