Stairs Dilemma! Wood or Travertine?

We are doing travertine floors throughout the house downstairs and wood floors throughout the house upstairs. Should the stairs be travertine or wood?

The stairs wrap around to go upstairs

wood. I find tile to be too slippery for stairs!

Stairs are a transition area from one level to the next, In regards to visibility, it would make sense to do the same as the level from which it is seen, HOWEVER, Wood would work as well. Easier Installation, more forgiving, and softer on the feet. You may want to tvisit the idea of wood treads, and travertine risers. Tony Vaughn RDC ( Real Estate Design Consultant )
