MH Canada, you can improve the look of it alot by attaching a mirror or chalk paint or artwork to the front - when closed, it looks like a shadow-box frame instead of a black box on the wall. I built one for my office that's longer, and divided into what looks like three framed sections - one is a pale pink chalk paint that I mixed to match the tones in the room, one is cork, and one is a padded/ribboned memo board. When closed, it is fully functional for my office space, and when unlatched and open, it gives me a nice long area for extra work space or a puzzle table or even a sewing table. "Dividing" the front into three pieces means I get two sets of legs to swing down instead of one when it's unfolded, so it has a little extra center support to accommodate the length (a little over 6 feet total). Mine is also just a table top, so it's not as deep as this one, which is 6" deep. I am going to get one of these, tho; the cost is not crazy and it's certainly more convenient than building. It's a nice addition to our library space and/or guest room.

When I ran into this, I first noticed a fold out picture table, for approximately $2,000.00 , in a photo right next to it.

Strikes me that this (singly or in multiples) could do what that picture table does, for a tiny kitchen (which is what I have) and then some. No, it wouldn't seat several people, but, putting two on the wall right next to each other could amply make a table for 2-3 people to use, while leaving clear floor space afterward. Plus, since it has shelves, flatware, candles, napkins, spices or other such items could be stored in it.

I suppose it could even be used as part of a baking center, to store a rolling pin and cookie cutters and a space for rolling out dough.

And, of course, on the other side, that would be seen when folded away, one could use chalk paint (as I saw suggested by someone in the comments) or simply some great artwork to brighten up the kitchen.
