We are in the process of choosing new tile for our fireplace. We like this split face ledgestone for the surround and marble for the hearth. We are also planning on painting. My question is, should we keep the ledgestone just on the surround, or carry it above the mantle, all the way to the ceiling? We would also like to somehow create a wood look for the mantle.
