Need help deciding what color to go with for new kitchen cabinets

We are planning on remodeling our kitchen however we are struggling with what color of cabinets to get. We are planning on knocking out the wall between the kitchen and dining room. The original hardwood floors have been refinished which I absolutely love however I am not a big fan of the wood trim throughout the house. Should we go with a cream color that has a distressed look to it, something that goes with the dining room table (michael's cherry stain) or something that matches the existing trim?

I would paint your wood trim a nice warm white, along with the cabinets in the same color. I would not distress the cabinets. That look is going away.

Something in the greens could look great with your counter tops. Maybe green on lower cabinets and white on upper cabinets. Maybe put decorative glass in a few of the cabinet doors.

Thanks, Carolyn. Is it necessary to paint all of the trim and interior doors throughout the house? or can we limit it to just the kitchen?

Abigail, you can start with just the kitchen. Then, if you like it you can continue room by room. It is not necessary to paint the trim in the rest of the house, but I think you will want to do so once you see the transformation in the kitchen. I'll be eager to hear how it goes!

i agree with Carolyn, once you paint the trim.... I did start in my kitchen and the wall, ceiling and trim colors I have carried to the living room, hall & foyer. the trim color goes through out the house. I also use a shade of natural green as a accent such as the back walls of my built in book case. now I am redoing my kitchen cabinets and countertops, however the color combo stays.
