Be careful heat is not good for the TV

HI -- If you were advised NOT to use wood in the mantel because of extreme temps in the summer - then wouldn't that also be the case for NOT having the TV over the fireplace too ?? If a TV is on the fireplace you will need a mantel to protect the TV from the heat of the fire. Please rethink about putting the TV on the fireplace not just because of the heat but because it places the TV at an uncomfortable position for viewing . It is also more difficult to do the wireing with the stacked stone . I think you should go to the extra exspence and do the whole thing in the stacked stone . I think you will regret it if you don't .

We have wood cabinetry throughout the house and keep the temperature controlled with a/c but I hear the concerns. The firebox is pretty low and TV will be raised several inches above the mantel. Wish I could send a photo in for some design ideas...
