Carpet is neutral beige family room slab is there a rule about putting a rug on top of the carpet, carpet is fairly new but room is blah

We have a lot of customers who put area rugs over carpeting. It's a great way to add a splash of color and design to a room. We recommend getting a specific type of padding that is meant for carpet to rug. This will help protect the carpeting from getting damaged and keep the rug from moving on top of it. If you need any help picking out a rug or getting this padding let me know!
