What type of stone was used on the exterior stairs?

Hi Mary,

The steps are granite - beautiful, but it can ice up, as do most exterior surface materials. Keeping granite clear of snow and adding ice-melt or salt to keep the ice at bay is useful for this, or for bluestone, wood, or whatever your steps are made of. Neither ice-melt nor salt will damage the stone.
