Possibly a linen color as a paint color for both rooms.

Let the green fireplace stay. If that's my house, I might paint it on cream, beige and light orange to complement with the cabinets. But you can try these suggestions too.

Love the green tile…different.

No green tile in this picture, only the green in the chairs. I thought this might help…the soft gray walls (tile grout?) and the crisp white paint and then the simple palette in the rest of the room.


Even the arms of the chairs resemble the stain on your kitchen cabs.

For your fireplace, I'd either paint it white/off white or cover it with drywall (sheetrock) and then paint it....if you have the time, visit HGTV,ca (House and Garden TV) and then type in Sarah Richardson and view her galleries....Candice Olson is another amazing decorator too....both these women are Canadian and do amazing work...it was your green fireplace in the corner that brought these ladies to my mind I guess because I've seen them change so many sore eye fireplaces into a work of art that is beautiful....let us know how you make out..
